We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert...

Recommended Posts

So I've just booked a 10 day road trip with my mate and brother starting in Las Vegas in October. I love Las Vegas so will do 3 nights but then looking to escape for a road trip that will end up back there in a week or so. I'm wanting classic desert scenery, strong drinks in dusty bars, tumbleweed etc. Basically No Country for Old Men meets Breaking Bad. Ideally without the guns.

Anyone got any tips for planning a route? Or any idea whether I should head south to Mexico or east to Albuquerque?

Monument Valley in Arizona and two National parks in Utah - Arches and Zion - I remember as some of the highlights from doing a Seattle to LA road trip that went via Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. We went to a lake in Utah which I think was lake Powell, that was pretty awesome as well.

I could have died at Owens River Gorge on my way to Vegas (not recommended)

How about Reno, where there's a golden DeLorean ?

See what 'retro rich' looks like and think "am I a schmuck"

It's an existential experience

    • Blame me then as I will be voting for the Reform Party at the next general election after being a Conservative voter for many years.  Two tier Keir has just shot himself in the foot with his announcement about national insurance exemptions for Indian workers coming to the UK whilst he imposes the exact opposite on UK businesses.
    • I’m trying to organise a party for my teenage son and really don’t want to have to trek all the way to Goals in Beckenham. Does anyone know of any football pitches (Astro or concert) that you can hire on a Saturday?  thanks for your help.
    • Wouldn't vote for farage and his lot, so don't blame me.
    • Can't blame it just on Jazzer.  More than just one person to blame.  I'd start off with the Liv Dems going into coalition with the Tories.  But very much a six degrees of separation thing so we all must take a share of the blame 😔
