Sharon_H
Well done Spain! Shame that Villa will miss the final due to injury (according to the BBC) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3388-euro-2008/page/10/#findComment-113101 Share on other sites
Annasfield
I don't think Spain will miss Villa too much. Didn't catch much of the first half, but from what I can gather things improved immensely once Torres and Fabregas were paired up front.Come on you reds ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3388-euro-2008/page/10/#findComment-113105 Share on other sites
mockney piers
aA it goes they improved once Torres left the field. He's a talent no doubt, but he's had a poor tournament.Iniesta, Spaniard of the tournament for me, with Senna and Casillas a close joint second, Fabregas third, he changes the game every time he comes on. Michael Palaeologus
I cannot even begin to imagine how many people Mockney Piers hugged last night. It must have run into the thousands. muffintop
On another note, and still in relation to the footie, did you get a look at some of those guys! I was like, woah! come to mama!(not too nice when they decide to hack their lungs up on the pitch though!) Come on girls, (and possibly boys)lets have a voting on the hotest players in the comp so far, (Spain has more than their fair share even if I do say so myself!) Annasfield
It did improve as they then went on to score again. He did have a couple of good runs though, was disappointed not to see him get a goal. He's hasn't had the best tournament, that is certainly a fact. muffintop
Ok, I'll stop being such a "girl" ha!Spain deserved to win last night, they completely dominated the game, I was very disappointed in the way Russia played in comparison to how they played before, felt they didn't play to their full potential, and perhaps they still had hangups about being beaten, what was it? 4-0/4-1 in the qualifying heats for Euro 08 by Spain. Spain will also, hopefully, whip Germany's lacklustre team who I feel were lucky to have gotten through, in the final, Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole!! mockney piers
There was lots of great movement, particularly in the second half, and Torres made some great runs when chasing the through ball or the old 'over the top', which made his failure to capitalise on them all the more frustrating. When taking on players with the ball, he's been pretty much a disaster sadly. mockney piers
Yes Muffin, I was happy with the result, but genuinely dissappointed by the Russian performance, I so enjoyed the Holland game, they were a joy to watch. But they will learn from it and become more consistent with experience and maturity.Oh, and yeah, we're a good looking nation ;-) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3388-euro-2008/page/10/#findComment-113125 Share on other sites
muffintop
Ha! Yo Mockney, come to mama! (a bit closer than Vienna I feel!) >:D<Only joking (peeps round furtively just incase there is a Mrs Mockney around!) hehe! Ted Max
Talking of good looking Spaniards... Who was the happy lady (in the white shirt in the posh seats) the TV director was keen on last night. Is that Mrs Zapatero? I ask purely for purposes of political research, of course. Keef
Yeah definitely not Torres' best few games, which is disappointing as a Liverpool fan watching, but Spain as a whole have looked good, and fortunately for them they have a few players who know where the goal is. Hopefully Torres will be able to get a goal in the final...There is a discussion as to whether Fabregas should start the final... Now Villa is out it looks like he will, but in a way they will miss being able to bring him on later on to change the game!I really hope they win, it's been a long time coming, and frankly Germany haven't deserved it, whereas Spain have had a tougher route, and put the world champs out! Ted Max
Thanks, Mockney. Google tells me she was Letizia Ortiz Rocasolan, before becoming Princess of Asturias.Gotta widen the gene pool every so often I suppose. Interesting what you find, conducting research into monarchical systems of the early 21st century. mockney piers
Indeed Ted, it was a small gene pool that gave rise to the chinless Habsburg kings of Spain, an uglier royal family you'd be hard pressed to find. Luckily the mockney genes are much healthier, here's my slightly distant cousinand classy, was that really the princesa? david_carnell
Good job she's a distant cousin, eh Mockers (nudge nudge, wink wink).Back to the footy then.... predictions for Sunday?I'll give it to the Spanish 3-2 aet. with Cesc getting the winner! SimonM
I really hope Spain win the final, and that indeed Torres gets at least one goal. That said teutonic efficiency has not become a cliche for nothing and Germany do tend to rise to the occasion...So will Rafael buy Fabregas or will Arsene buy Torres? :) Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3388-euro-2008/page/10/#findComment-113183 Share on other sites
mockney piers
I daren't predict, but Germany do like to pee on parades in finals, think Czechs in '96 when the Czechs had been one of the teams of the tournament.I'll take advantage of that thought to remember England 4 - 1 Holland ..... *sigh* Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/3388-euro-2008/page/10/#findComment-113190 Share on other sites
