Anyone's for sale for the right price. The difference in this instance is that Ronaldo wants to leave. He also doesn't want to play for Chelsea or Arsenal or Liverpool. Fergie would never allow him to go to a rival premiership club.

Don't you remember the debacle when we tried to sign Heinze last year?

If Torres were to leave Liverpool I don't think he'd go to another premiership club. He has also stressed on numerous occasions how he wouldn't want to leave, something which Ronaldo (who thinks he looks great playing in white) has never done.

Hmmm - perhaps he should play for Leeds or switch to cricket.

I have major residual affection for the guy but I believe this to be true. I don't hear much in the way of replacement for him however. We'll miss them when they are gone etc

Radio-wise, I think commentating is in decent nick. But TV... Martin Tyler and Andy Gray remain the best of the bunch. Even if Gray is losing it

Analysis, football won, the unambitious champions deservedly dumped out. A lacklustre France likewise. Italy didn't manage to bully their way through.

The rest of the tournament was an absolute triumph, best competition since Euro 2000, some great games, real drama and excitement and an emphasis on good football.

Spain have finally broken their curse. It was so funny into the 93rd minute, I and my fellow fans in the crowd, still didn't dare believe Spain could do it, a look of nervous terror etched into everyone's face. It's only just beginning to sink in now.

Looking forward to the world cup now and lets hope Capello can instill a similar quality into the England side!!

Oh, and well done Torres, he delivered when it finally counted .. and how!!!!!

Cracking goal, and well deserved victory!

I am well chuffed, as I walked in to the office today, and my colleague presented me with ?45 for our predictions game. I'd given up on it, because all my first round score predictions were bad, but the fact I had spain to win, spain to score most goals, and germany as runners up won it for me! Hurrah!!!! :)-D

Particularly useful as I lost my wallet at the weekend with all my cards in it!

    • There was an excellent discussion on Newscast last night between the BBC Political Editor, the director of the IFS and the director of More In Common - all highly intelligent people with no party political agenda and far more across their briefs than any minister I've seen in years. The consensus was that Labour are so unpopular and untrusted by the electorate already, as are the Conservatives, that breaking the manifesto pledge on income tax wouldn't drive their approval ratings any lower, so they should, and I quote, 'Roll The Dice', hope for the best and see where we are in a couple of years time. As a strategy, i don't know whether I find that quite worrying or just an honest appraisal of what most governments actually do in practice.
    • They are a third of the way through their term Earl. It's no good blaming other people anymore. They only have three years left to fix what is now their own mess. And its not just lies in the manifesto. There were lies at the last budget too, when they said that was it, they weren't coming back for more tax and more borrowing. They'd already blamed the increase in NIC taxes on what they claimed was a thorough investigation. They either knew everything then or they lied about that too .   They need to stop lying and start behaving. If they don't the next government won't be theirs, it will be led by Nigel Farage.  They have to turn it round rapidly. Blaming other people, telling lies and breaking promises isn't going to cut it any more.
    • Is it lame? Or is it Lamey? (sorry)
