New Shops in Dulwich / Peckham - 2024 Edition

There is a new Malaysian restaurant called Janda Diner opening this week on 8th February. Next to the White Horse pub at the bottom of Rye Lane: https://www.jandalondon.uk/. 

Prior to the new year, they were serving food from the Man of Kent pub nearby in Nunhead, with apparently very good reviews.

I'm sure they will cover most of East Dulwich for delivery once they are up and running.

Great news about Janga! I find that ED lacks much choice for east Asian dining.

Does anyone know what is the Chinese restaurant being fitted out next to the Cheese Block on LL?

We checked it out yesterday. Our main courses were insanely good! 

20% off all throughout Feb. It's the hidden spot where Slow Richies was.

Another big shout out for Janda Diner. We went there yday and it was excellent. And lovely owners/staff too. As mentioned above, 20% off in Feb but good value anyway and byob with a small fee for corkage.

Another big recommendation for Janda Diner. It's really really good food - different from anything I've had before (I've had a few Malaysian meals in the past, but this place has really interesting cooking and flavours). It is small (like Bob says) but I'm assuming it's eat-in only, for now at least. Quite a cramped informal setting - we liked the vibe, feels like a real family place, but others might want more space - but the food is really top-notch in my view

Hi Bob - maybe 6 or 7 tables? The tablets are quite small though, and tightly spaced - we liked that (was informal/fun) but others may not

It’s called Malabar Feast - menu looks good, not dissimilar to Ganapati.

It is good, but it's a bit delicate. It's a proper meal with careful ingredients cooked well. It's not cheap and cheerful post-pub nosh.

I would like to know what’s happened it was such an incredible shop! Don’t understand the sudden shut down or lack of a note on the door to explain why? Does anyone know if they are still selling any leftover stock etc?

Yes agree I was gutted to see the shop looking abandoned.

Its been my go to for art and hobby supplies for years and also the odd gift.

I still half hope its being renovated or something because the closure was so sudden

PopBox art for kids is/has opened up there. Plenty of my kids classmates have been going to PopBox for ages and they've got a new local home now too which is fantastic!
