Bollard Painting Outside the Coop

Outside the Coop Forest Hill Road someone is painting all the bollards with flowers. Sometimes he (and she) paint the same one for days on end. Are they paid by the hour or something?

Saw a chap wearing a straw hat, lying on the pavement, painting the bollard near to the lights last Wednesday about 1pm. His work makes a big difference to the drab bollards.

They always cheer me up in the morning on may way to the 63 bus stop to get to work!

So without the painting, the bollards are drab...

But why are they there.. They do not stop children running into the road. ??

So we waste money putting bollards there, then waste more money getting someone to paint them.

I think that whilst they are definately artistic and colourful they are a bit tacky. In certain areas I think they would work but not there. It does also mak them blend in with the cars so not so visible!

I thought bollards were to prevent cars driving on the pavement rather than prevent kids running onto the road?

They are Al&Em, it'd be a pretty wide kid that couldn't get through those bollards into the road!

I like them, I grew up on FHR and it's nice to see it looking so cheerful.

I hate them to be honest - they distract drivers and attract children to go near them and the road. I wish Southwark council would ask local residents' opinions about these things before going ahead.

I also have no idea what's green about using spray paints....

To say they are 'artistic and colourful' is a load of bollards! They're not. It's a childish mess and should be returned to black gloss standard street furnture colour.

I thought the bollards looked a bit messy and unfinished when they were first done a year or two ago, but still a huge improvement. I saw the man painting them this morning, and I think they are looking lovely now.

Perhaps he'll come and paint some of the bollards at Aquarius Golf Club on Festival Day - August 31st. 20 great bands on 3 stages, with plenty of fun for families.

I have seen thr person painting them and if you look they are quite intricate and agreed the pattern is somewhat childish. Also I agree that they should be black hence my point that they are tacky! given that you think they should be black, that would suggest they are of colour i.e colourful....no? I am not quite sure at what point I agreed with their current design!

I agree the coloured bollards don't look great (from a distance it looks like graffiti).

Would rather they were painted black.

I think they are bieng paid and they are also looking very nice.

Is the cost of this coming from the council tax? If so, I am not surprised they are wasting money on this type of hippy nonsense. Since the council politics is at odds with central government politics yet again then front line services will be used as a political football.

I like them. Colourful and cheerful. Colour makes me happy. Nothing unique about black - just dreary and dismal. It's not bad art either, it's just different. I like the fact that artistic flair is being shown throughout East Dulwich. Certainly brings a smile to my face.
