Just spoken to them - they couldn't do a full troubleshooting session as I'm not at home; speaking to them when I get back this evening. But he did tell me that in our area we should be able to get download speeds of up to 13mbps, and he can see that my line is currently 1.4mbps

I just did a test of my speed with Virgin and got 47mbps. When I see some of you with 13 and 10 I think that must be really slow. Makes me wonder if I'm overrating my speed in that maybe I could be just as happy with a slower speed and better off paying less with Sky.

They phoned me the other day as I was a TV customer, but changed to Virgin as they offered an increased broadband speed if you took their tele too. When I said I wouldn't mind at all changing back to Sky tele if only they sorted out their broadband, I was surprised that the response I got was not one of defence of their product but like an understanding that they couldn't compete.

That's a lot of bandwidth to use :)

True speed would also include the latency of the network. I think Virgin and Fibre networks come good here too.

I though it was speed, though my gaming son has educated me about ping and recently introduced another concept to me which restricts his gaming enjoyment. As he isn't here at the moment I can't ask him to remind me but what sticks in my mind is the word 'wobbles'. Is there a technical term that sounds like that?

    • Have used Milk and More for years. When the price went up we cancelled a couple of pints but we still have 8 pints a week. If we are expecting family etc we buy from Sainsburys to top up. We kept on with M & M as if weather bad we could order extra stuff from them to save us a trip to Sainsburys Local. Also gives employment to our milkman.
    • Hi there, Our Lexus NX300H, (reg RF18BWO) was stolen off our driveway last night, Monday 27th October. It was there at 9pm, and had gone by 7am. If anyone has any footage on their doorbell or Ring, that would be super helpful. We have asked some neighbours and reported to the police etc.  Most upsettingly, there was a box of old family videos in the car boot, in an old Sainsburys box (photo attached). If anyone sees these dumped at the side of the road, please contact me asap! They are priceless videos that my deceased grandparents took. Thank you for any info, Jojo
    • Another shout out for Milk & More - their app allows you to alter the order, add or subtract to it and also to schedule holiday stops without having to leave messages in bottle - so more secure. You do have to set up a direct debit with them, but I haven't had any problems with that myself. I have had one or two missed or late deliveries in several years, but not really a problem - only very occasional and caused mainly by delivery-person illness. And very much feels like an old-fashioned milk delivery. They do special seasonal offers as well. More expensive than the cheapest of the super market milk prices, but for that its at your door, fresh and no bother.
    • Enjoying the nostalgia and memories.  As with others, we get ours through Milk and More (is part of big co, so there is that against it, but it's hardly a secret/niche thing) - returnable glass bottles of milk, orange juice, yoghurt, and much more besides (as per the name). And yes it comes in the middle of the night in an electric vehicle. So can still get out nostalgia fix, doubled when the Riverford chap comes too.
