Keef
(tu) I know we've done the curry house thing before, but just thought I'd chip in to say that I went to Coriander last night for the first time, and was very impressed!Menu has a lot of "chef's special" dishes on it, as opposed to just the usual suspects (they do them too). Food took a while to come, but when it did, it was clear that it was all very fresh, and had just been cooked, rather than taken from the freezer and heated up (which I'm convinced happens in some of the others).I had Lamb Chop Masala which was very nice. Mrs Keef had the Vegetable Thali, and said that everything on it was lovely!Bill was very reasonable to I thought.Anyway, I shall be going back there, it was very good! AcedOut
Will second that. One of my favorites. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367-coriander/#findComment-7420 Share on other sites

Jah Lush
I love a Ruby and the Coriander is the only Indian restaurant on Lordship Lane I haven't tried yet. Must rectify this soon. Thanks for the tip. Still think the Surma is the best though. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367-coriander/#findComment-7470 Share on other sites
rob
Me and Mrs Rob went to Dulwich Tandoori - the "vintage" looking one next to Somerfield - a month or so ago and it was great. Always avoided it before, but the food was very good and the service quick and friendly. Jah Lush
It's very difficult to not get a good curry on Lordship Lane. As there are seven curry houses on the street, the standard and quality of food and service is very high as obviously there is a lot of competition. This link is making me hungry. I may well be going for a Ruby tonight and will wash it all down with lashings of Cobra. Marvellous!:)-D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367-coriander/#findComment-7527 Share on other sites

Nero
Coriander is one of my faves, too. Tried Chandri at W Dulwich station on Saturday and was v impressed. Cheaper than most and decent decor, good service and Bangla beer - that's a new one on me! BTW it is always empty on Sunday nights, which always makes me wonder why it stays open on the week's most non-curry-eating night. (Unless of course you know better!) mockney piers
Maybe we should have a curry house as well as a lounge, where all these threads end up."you've been Rubied" Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367-coriander/#findComment-7555 Share on other sites

Jah Lush
That's true. We could certainly do with decent a family run Italian restaurant on Lordship Lane. Something like Lorenzo's up in Crystal Palace which is very good and not too expensive. James
Reading this is like being in Groundhog Day. By the way, isn't it disgraceful how East Dulwich is becoming posh and attracting chains like Cafe Nero? Jah Lush
Err, I think we've covered that in another thread. See "Is East Dulwich becoming too posh." Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367-coriander/#findComment-7649 Share on other sites
mockney piers
Well spotted. While we're at it, are there any good local carveries in the area for sunday lunch? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367-coriander/#findComment-7662 Share on other sites
CrystalClear
Well, there's the Dog. That does a carvery, wide selection of beer too. I pretty much always get takeaway from the Coriander (indeed, I recommended it to Keef). Unless, of course, I go to one of the other curry houses. There's a lot to choose from! Jah Lush
Yeah, the Dog is great for Sunday lunch but my only complaint is that it gets too crowded on Sunday lunchtimes with out-of-towners having a day trip to the Village. Mark
> Also, has anyone had their credit card cloned in ED recently?not in the last month, I blame it on the chain storesoh yes, had a Coriander once but it was very greasy Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367-coriander/#findComment-7676 Share on other sites
mockney piers
Indeed Jeremy indeed, and don't you think Jah Lush has raised an important point. Do you think there a too many out of towners, saaaay Claphamites, invading Dulwich for its manifold curry houses and pubs and house price rises? Keef
Er, to be fair, I hadn't intended to start up another discussion on the best curry house, I was just saying that having never been there before, I thought The Coriander was good.Might be worth mentioning, that the forum is getting new users all the time, and they probably can't be arsed reading ever thread (I know I wouldn't), so there's bound to be some repitition! You could always just NOT READ IT! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/367-coriander/#findComment-7688 Share on other sites
