>>Might be worth mentioning, that the forum is getting new users all the time, and they probably can't be arsed reading ever thread (I know I wouldn't), so there's bound to be some repitition! You could always just NOT READ IT<<

A fair point. Perhaps the Lord High Administrator could consider a FAQ/New Readers Start HERE section whoch would be (a) read only and (b) cover things like Indian reastaurants, Sunday lunches, motor fuel retailers and credit cards, chains & The Joy of Starbucks, M & S coming/not coming to ED etc etc..?

I know the Administrator's thought a lot about this however it would lead to the issue that there would be a terms and conditions page, an FAQ page and a new reader page and people won't read all of them. We could make the "Read this first" prominent when you register but again we don't like putting hurdles in front of the registration process. As Ant said it will take a bit of updating but I think the onus could possibly be on the regulars to say "this has been discussed over here" rather than "tsk, not again" but then everyone's free to do what they want (within reason). So yes we may introduce a "read this first, it'll help" page if the need arises. Ooops, look like this thread's gone off topic.

Has Coriander only got one "r" in it?

I had my first meal from the Coriander the other day, and I have to say I was far from impressed. I had handi lazeez and the mrs had gajor chicken. Hers was so-so, punctuated by the occasional searing-hot chilli. Mine was brown slop devoid of flavour or spice. My chapati was dry and tasted stale, but on the plus side the bombay potato was very nice.

Perhaps it was just an off-night, but it was still quite a disappointment.

Haven't tried the Coriander yet but will have to. I've been going to Surma recently - good curries but don't order a pint of Cobra. I did and it tasted like battery acid!

I used to go to Pistachio Club and - this seems to be the thing with a lot of the takeaways on L Lane- the first couple of meals were delicious, and then once you go regularly, they start getting a bit lazy. I stopped going to PS after ordering a veg balti which turned out to be almost entirely onions! Their eat-in menu is good though.

There's an ad for Surma in the latest edition of Glossy Advertorial (aka Living South) where they invite readers to "find out what makes them officially the best Indian restaurant in East Dulwich". They say Officially because it was "voted for by the registered users of the East Dulwich Forum". Since when were we official? This kind of status could go to people's heads. For what it's worth, Surma, I voted Coriander.

Went to Coriander on Saturday, on the back of recommendations from here... seriously people, do you have no taste buds?

Lamb Dupiaza - bland, tasteless

Chicken Tikka Massala - very sweet, bordering on sickly

bhindi bhaji - incredibly salty

I know some people are bound to say that we should have gone for the specials, rather than bog-standard curries. But we were trying to keep the cost down... and besides, if they can't even get the basic dishes right, I'm not inclined to try anything more adventurous.

On the plus side, the starters were OK, and at least the curries were not overly greasy (like in Surma, for instance). And it was thankfully devoid of damp, cracked plaster and peeling wallpaper (like, oh, perhaps in Surma).

    • So you are a ‘member’ 😳whatever that means, but also not. It’s not very clear…. But also totally transparent. Miaow 💅😂 Maybe I will, maybe I won’t 😂 What is interesting about your questions is that they suggest, as usual, that you see everything as a really basic binary opposition (cars vs bike, anti LTN vs pro-council etc). It’s not very nuanced Rocks. I don’t have great love for Southwark council as I suspect you assume. That said, neither do I have a lot of time for the apocalyptic hyperbole of those still upset over a fairly minor change to a road junction in the village, made several years ago, and which actually creates a nice public space for pedestrians and a bit more safety for kids travelling to school by bike. Ah, what the hell, let’s play…as you asked so nicely: The one that took place between May and July 2021 I don’t know much about this. It seems it was reopened though? Apparently they have the agreement of the emergency services this time, (which perhaps does suggests they didn’t consult with them properly the first time round). Of course someone (the mysterious Mr One?) believes the emergency services are being intimidated somehow (possibly by commies) so maybe Southwark still haven’t learnt their lesson? No, I don’t. Although I hear the Mysterious Mr One would like it redesigned to make things clearer. 😂 As for your ‘question 3 sub-points’ I don’t actually agree with their premise (a bit of the old ‘how often do you beat your wife’ framing going on there… slippery 😂) Anyway good luck with the referendum.
    • I often walk past 'Kenro Press' and think it looks very sad and negleted. I wonder when it was last a viable business - tried googling it but nothing much came up Great to hear it is being brought back to life, perhaps a pity it will not be a new usefull retail premises. Lots of work needed so good luck with your renovation
    • No I don't disagree. I wasn't condoning drivers getting confused and the debate on whether refresher tests should be taken is a long one and is something probably for a Malumbu- thread!   I take it you never entered your details as someone agreeing with their sentiment but lots of Dulwich residents did and as part of that you get their email updates. So no, I have nothing to do with tje group beyond one of those two thousand dots on their website as a "member" is me!   Now, are you going to answer my questions or pretend you never saw them....p.s. we have seen this tactic before - happy to throw questions but not happy to answer some yourself...
