last time I went to an event in Brockwell Park it was the "free the weed" march, which I though was very much a piece of stoners self indulgence as there's far more important thigs to march about, however I did get surprisingly out of my head on some natural high 'legal ecstacy' which surprised me....anyway, I divert...will there be a 'legal high' tent at said event anyone?

Unlikely, but you're just a short 'trip' away from the streets of Brixton. There you can pick up whatever you need to get the monkey off your back.

Wait around for a while near the KFC and you'll get hitched up.

It helps if you hum 'I'm Waiting For My Man' by The Velvet Underground.

The Lambeth country show is my all time favourite event since I moved to London 14 years ago - i love theridiculous chutzpah of it - it remidns me of all the ages and stages I;ve been in my south london sojourn

I have loved the displays of wheat and potatoes with labels in case yo don't know

the alternative morris dancing - indian folk (the connection being handkercheif waving)

glorious launch of lambeth sure start - tent with big dungareed lady leading a rousing version of she'll be coming round the maountain

the big piles of sheepskins and children gone giddy rolling in them

and, always, the owls

hurrah for it

Hell yeah baby. We went today and had a blast!!!!!!! absolute wicked time.

BUT....

We went into Cafe Prov for a wee dram for the road, and heard that three gangs armed to the teeth had a full on brawl outside Cafe Prov(underneath the railway bridge). Riot police had to break it all up. And these little fcukers were all approx 16 years old.All with knives.

The waitress in Cafe Prov said that about 50 of them ran into the bar to take cover and hide from the police.!. Her partner is playing on stage with Aswad tomorrow and he has heard the whole day may be cancelled because of the threat of more violence outside the park.

Let them fcuking kill themselves in the streets....I'll be on the grass with a pint of Tip Top cider, blissed out.

I'll assume that there was a semblance of truth in some of the factual element of what you say.

Having taken a few drinks myself, but not as many as you appear to have had,

Let them fucking kill themselves? A suicide solution? You're too fucking scared to spell the word fuck correctly?

Fucking bollocks, it almost fucking well makes me want to fucking use the word 'fuck'.

Shit.

Edited because I used language that was as intemperate as that used above. Used in drink that I wa not proud of.

It was accurate however.

i'm not against d'erb at all (am an occassional fan) but wonder whether anyone else is concerned about a possible connection

between d'erb (and its less savoury cousins) and all that gang violence/crime in general? am i naive to think there's a link?

anyway, off to the brockwell park...:)-D

AT LEAST fifty?! ALL with knives? Armed TO THE TEETH?!! RIOT Police? WHOLE DAY cancelled?

No word of exaggeration??!???!?!

I heard about the brawl too. Bit of a stand off on Half Moon Lane. Missed it yesterday because I had a hangover from hell. I usually go to this and it can be a lot of fun. I'd kinda like to see Aswad again as I haven't seen them in decades but...oh bollocks I'm going down the pub for a hair of the dog that bit me.

Darling you need to chill out a bit. You seem very uptight.

Please feel free to ask the lovely waitress in Cafe Prov. exactly what happened.I'm sure she'd like to know that someone on this forum has called into doubt what happened to her. The incredibly frightening sitiuation that she went through was not accurate, because you say it isn't.

hmmmm....have another drink. Why not. Then I can sit here and make up some more shit about knifings in South London.

    • Hello,  I am a 52-year old mother and an integrative counsellor who lives and works in West Dulwich, SE21. In mid January I am starting a new training in Parent Infant Psychotherapy (helping parents to bond with their babies), and a key component of the course is a 24-month infant observation.  I’m looking for someone who will be giving birth ideally in January or February and who would allow me to observe their baby for one hour a week until the baby’s second birthday. The baby can be awake or asleep, playing, feeding, eating or interacting with carer/s and family members - whatever they normally do at that time.  The purpose of the observation is to enable me to gain a thorough knowledge of very early infant development and to develop the capacity to maintain an observationally minded and non-judgemental attitude in my work as an infant-parent psychotherapist.  I will provide enhanced DBS clearance and I’m happy to answer any questions.  Please forward this email to anyone who might be interested, email me at [email protected] or call me on 07949716043. I would be extremely grateful for any leads. Many thanks,  Millie  Millie Burton, MBACP Integrative Counsellor [email protected] millieburton.com
    • I keep my promises...had the Sweet & Sour Chicken.  It was great - the best sweet and sour dish I've ever had. The chicken itself was good and the sauce seemed home made with real vegetables and pineapple - it is NOT the red sugar sauce goo you get elsewhere.  The Korean fried chicken was very good but the sweet chili sauce was much more chili than sweet - just far too spicy for me. There is a honey something sauce that I will get next time. Egg fried veggie rice was good as a side.  We also ordered the chicken katsu curry which was polished off so quickly I didn't get to taste it. It looked very good tho. SD is not like Magic Wok used to be - cheap and filling but junk food. (Don't get me wrong - I went often to Magic Wok). SD's food is much higher quality, real ingredients, chunky portions, freshly prepared. I'll be back, for sure.
