I would go back even further and see how often you use Somerfield/Sainsbury.

My other bank just called. Withdrawal attempted in India on my other bank card with different bank. Had to close down account...awaiting new card...

and i just got my other card back and up and running though i am awaiting reimbursement of funds for that escapade...

going on holiday saturday. luckily, my mother and her cards will look after me!

thank goodness for mothers,

xo, otto

I used my cards in the hsbc machine mostly...I was feeling almost certain that was the spot....

I've used them in a few other small businesses on the lane, but, as they are family owned and staffed, i am sure they were not the places. Somerfield and Sainsburys on occasion...but will not anymore...after the other coincidences here.

As i work and have kids in ED, I never seem to get out of ED so must be a local thing. (and I do internet purchases with a card that has not been copied!)

Used my card in Somerfield a couple of days ago, 3 transactions for just shy of a ton each made in Senegal this afternoon...

Fucking Fucker-dy fuck fuck...

Still, at least Natwest picked it up pretty quickly (got the call about half an hour after the forth transaction attempt was rejected), and the lady from the fraud team said that I'd definitely be entitled to a refund, although she had no idea when. Can't have it all, i s'pose.

Same here!!!

My Husband card was cancelled this morning and I got a call from the bank this evening. Both time someone was trying to access our accounts from India...

I haven't used my card in Somerfield for over 10 days though. But I used the HSBC cash point.

My Husband used both HSBC bank and Somerfield in the last few days

This is a little much! The police really should do sth about it.

It looks like business is going to be slow in ED this week-end :)

My collegue spoke to his bank and they told him that they would not call the police, hes gone away now on holiday with little cash, because they had to cancel his card. It seems a little odd that there has been a hotbed of activity around that area. If i see my local friendly bobby i will have to have a chat with him in a very non commital way.

I am not yet a cloning victim either Sean

I only use Sainburys or Somrfield once in a blue moon, and certainly not in the last six months. I can't remember the last time I used a card in there.

I don't buy petrol.

I have usd the HSBC cash machines, but not since the week before Glastonbury (so not since 16 July or so).

Locally I mostly use that debit card in places like Green & Blue, SMBS, East Dulwich Deli and similar. In other words, the local shops. But I also use cash quite a lot in the newsagent, Val's and so on.

On the card I use for cash and personal shopping, First Direct are now texting me my transactions every day and balance every week.

Bit of a negative first post but both myself and my flatmate have been stung today, his bank quick to notice, mine not so.

The only common thread we can think of is that we have both used the HSBC ATM machines and used our cards at a close by popular ED supermarket within the last few days.

From this thread it's quite obvious this is a common crime taking place in a small radius.

Perhaps I'm missing the point or it's somehow illegal, but can you not just go back into this popular supermarket and go to the management and tell them which cashier you used and explain what has happened? This happened to my husband a year or so ago at Cafe Richoux on Picadilly when buying lunch using a debit card he had never used before. Someone was trying to take money in Egypt the following day, but husband's bank refused. We then went back into Richoux the following day and told the manager what happened and have never seen our waiter since.

f*****g hell, I've just had a call from First Direct fraud department, my debit card has been cloned too (attempts declined) and they've cancelled it.

Just to let you know, the card companies and police are acting on information received, they know there is a problem in East Dulwich and they are investigating.

:-S

Now I'm going to phone my credit card company as I've used that round here recently too :-S

    • Yes. I had already offered to do so  some time ago if you are not able to do this yourself. Monica is not in there every day, and it is holiday season at the moment. I will try to catch up with her in the next few weeks. I assume there is no hurry as this has been dragging on for so long. I will find out whether there was more than one key holder, or whether there was one for every notice board. Also whether the same key (or copies of the same key)  was used for each board. I will also find out how Monica  liaised with the relevant people on the council and what their job titles were I will ask what system there was for ensuring that only neutral and non commercial information is displayed on the boards, for getting that information and for updating it. Before I speak to Monica, it would be helpful to know if jellybeanz is offering to be the key holder for all the noticeboards and keep them up to date, or alternatively if anybody else apart from jellybeanz is willing to have a key. Please private message me if you prefer. I should make it clear that I am not offering to be a key holder or to be involved in this any further than I have outlined above. And also that I am not "getting a key". I am just finding out more from Monica. I feel that it would have been helpful to have addressed these practical issues at the outset.
    • I'm an air conditioning installer - this is everything you need to know about getting it fitted https://mol.im/a/14875047 via https://dailym.ai/android   This may be helpful (sorry it's the Daily Mail!)
    • I don’t want the gatekeepers/key holders deciding what or what doesn’t merit being on the board. It’s for council/municipal information only. It’s not right that commercial or political parties or social campaigners be allowed to take advantage of such a facility. So, if the key holder can work with the relevant councillor/s, this would be a great idea. If not, it woudn’t.
    • Good idea - Sue are you happy to speak to the owner of Health Matters? Thanks
