Would everyone just relax :) I don't feel picked on at all, I was finding it all very amusing, and am not even slightly slighted, but thanks to everyone for jumping to my rescue. I have a big enough gob on me to deal with any cheeky sods that come my way - but yeh it was all in good humour! You know, I've lived in ED for four years, I check the forum regularly, and post when I feel challenged to do so. So, not the ED/forum virgin you may think. The blinking orange/lemonade thread was not posted so seriously - call it a bit of social observance that's all.

I didn't take them seriously - we are still talking about the price of a drink aren't we?! I'm just saying (again) that I personally would feel a bit p'd off with those comments.

Confused?? lay off the booze and get yourself down to the pub and order a ?3.20 orange and lemonade!

to be honest, i find it more value for money going to leicester square!

funny enough, i was in the grosvenor casino last saturday night, the food was definately cheaper & nicer than east dulwich tastes & prices! maybe not much cheaper, but if im gonna pay crazy prices i'd rather go somewhere in the city!;-)

the drinks were reasonably priced too....

and no im not a gambler, i just accompany them!:))

I try and have blackcurrent and soda instead of coke if I'm going for soft drinks, and have been charged everything from 20p to ?2.50 depending on where I am, have even had barmen try and get me to have a coke instead as its the same price and they've been embarrassed to charge me so much - slightly missing the point that I didn't want a coke!
Just interjecting here but got charged ?2.50 for a lime and soda in the Vale a couple of weeks ago. Now that is fooking disgusting!!

Its a vicious circle, I can't afford not to drink anymore.

For the record, I was joking earlier on the thread...

likewise

it has gotten a bit silly, hasn't it. particularly painful to be charged ?3 for a glass of OJ which you see come out of a carton from a supermarket, so you know it's no more than a quid a litre... the cheap, sociable option no longer seems to exist. I have been out a few times and thought i might switch to the softies after a pint or 3, but then see the price of the softies and think "sod it, for that much i might as well have another pint". Tight-fisted perhaps, but the Great British binge-drinker is hardly discouraged...

?3.20 for OJ and lemonade in the EDT? ?2.50 for lime and soda in the Vale? This outright profiteering.

Take, for example the Ivy House, where it is only ?2.20 and 40p respectively. The accoustics make conversation possible as well. Nuff said.

It isn't just the GP practice  there. There are various  clinics, and the blood test place. Some people may be quite ill or have mobility issues. Suppose they can't get a parking space because people have parked there to go shopping? Please don't encourage this!
