crescent
We can't buy any more tea tree oil or bazooka stuff. I think a friend went to a chiropodist with her daughter -- can anyone recommend one in east dulwich?Thank you! Fuschia
You can buy a freezing stick thing you know ... Very effective and simple Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/38827-verruca-ridden-child-can-you-recommend-a-chiropodist/#findComment-699140 Share on other sites

crescent
Thanks all. I know I'd save a fortune if I bought stuff myself, but DC1 shrieks if I even try and cut his nails, never mind anything else. DC1 will be much better with a professional! bodsier
Don't want to hijack thread but my son has a similar problem, probably due to people not wearing protectors over their shoes.... Anyway that's another story... How quickly do they work...thought I was looking at months of bazooka stuff... muffins78
When I was little I had one, and it was frozen off and never came back. If that's of any help? sanity girl
In my experience the freezing stick things you can buy over the counter are useless. You need to use the extra strength bazooka and keep at it relentlessly for months - don't give up after a few weeks, keep on going and eventually they will go. mrsv
We used carpet tape - that black very sticky tape - left it on for a few days and then when manky replaced it with a new piece. It did take 3-4 weeks but eventually the whole thing just came off and has not returned. Pain free - would definitely recommend this. I have even heard that some clinical research has been done on this now so it is pucker - something to do with the chemical in the tape - but you must persist!Good luck! cazfay
I went to Dulwich Podiatry recently and they were fine. They can freeze verrucas etc, worth a try Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/38827-verruca-ridden-child-can-you-recommend-a-chiropodist/#findComment-699938 Share on other sites
Breakoutkid
Ok. I know this sounds odd but banana skin covered with gaffer tape is guaranteed to work! There is lots on the internet about this.Mary P Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/38827-verruca-ridden-child-can-you-recommend-a-chiropodist/#findComment-700008 Share on other sites
bodsier
I tried this but used sticky bandages,,,, kept coming off. Gaffer tape would stay on, though bit concerned about the chemical in the gaffer tape, it will enter the body, so may opt for a bandaged foot instead and see how this works... Romnarz
Even after I had mine burnt off at Dulwicy Podiatary they told me that the inside of banana with the dressing will help! echo
Hi,After reading this post I booked my 5 year old for an assessment, thinking they would freeze it off!But no, lets be clear dulwich podiatry will not use chemicals or freezing in such a young child. So I have just paid 64 quid for a consultation and a herbal remedy and advice about keeping on keeping a plaster. It seems that there are no short cuts! time, plasters, duct tape or banana skinsI did try to clarify my expectations with the receptionist before booking, but somehow I booked thinking that my daughter would have the verrucca killed.Anyway, lesson learned! Pickle
That's terrible! My daughter had one a few years ago on her big toe, I found it oddly fascinating. We persevered with Bazooka, and one day the whole thing came off in one piece, never to return. lulu1
Apple cider vinegar! Use either the cotton wool/tape method or just put your foot in vinegar for ten minutes. Worked amazingly for my son. MsMaz
Every night before bed, put the banana skin with the inside against the verruca with a plaster/tape over it. This got rid of my son's verruca in 2 weeks. Robert Poste's Child
I had one frozen off some years ago and it was the single most painful thing I've ever had done. Definitely wouldn't recommend for a small child, though apparently it doesn't affect everyone the same way. Huggers
we took my teenage daughter to Mr Jefferson on Rye lane last week from an ed forum recommendation. Her verucca was very painful- mainly from her chemist attempts to burn it off. He scraped and chiselled everything down so she was comfortable. It is up to her now whether she wants to go back to get it removed as it could resolve itself eventually. He was very gentle and reassuring and saw us at short notice. ladywotlunches
Bananas for veruccas - well, this is why I just love the forum! I get a remedy for my 4 year old's horrid verruca that won't go and she screams when I touch it (even gently). AND a use for all those bananas they get through!!!Hoping this works as nothing else has - have been trying for months and last night tried the freezing stick but she wouldn't let me leave it on for 10 seconds let alone the 30 you need to. Will report back! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/38827-verruca-ridden-child-can-you-recommend-a-chiropodist/#findComment-794775 Share on other sites
