Oaky - a weird title for a discussion I grant you, however before you dismiss it allow me to provide a bit of history to the title.

Years ago I used to work in Glasgow where there were 2 drum and monkey pubs, my work colleage in Glasgow (Big Dave as they all seem to be) used to drag me to one on a Tuesday night and the other on a Thursday night because (and in his own words) "There is a particularly rutty looking barmaid in one on Tuesday and a different (but equally rutty) one in the other on Thursday"

Before anyone asks, I have no idea what on earth he was talking about... I just went for a pint of Scotch (the local beer)

so in honour of our local barmaids (and barmen) I now ask you to nominate your favourite one (pub and name if known plus reason for nominating) so that we can do a roll call of the most friendly / attractive or whatever

To start the ball rolling

Eva and Gemma at the Rye in Peckham - two of the friendliest people I know

Ellie, Candi, Beth and Boo from the late Inside 72 - barrie likesay

Monica from Liquorish (ex-Bar Story) - strong and makes a mean white russian

Defo Eva from the Rye

The new barmaid in Bar Story - only started last week and not got round to exploring further at this stage, well worth a vist. Bar Story that is!

I have to say Sam at the Drum because she's my mate and I love her to bits and she'd be pissed off with me if I didn't say so. Also four great girls who have now sadly left the CPT...drum roll for Candice, Marie, Alex and Laura. All lovely girls and great barmaids who are very sadly missed. And also a mention in dispatches for Candy at the now defunct Inside 72.

Got to agree with you there. I always rather fancied her and I think her husband Peter knew it too.

What Jah said.

The CPT girls are all pals, so I'm biassed, but they are all great. One of them is getting married on Saturday.

Sam of The Drum is tops, and a great dancer too :)-D

Have to say I was in the CPT the other night for the first time in ages, and the new crop of staff, headed up by Chris the manager, seem very nice too. Not sure of names except a lovely little Aussie called Rachel.

It seems to have gone from appreciation of the personality towards looks and great bums....

Always reminds me of the joke about employing barmaids where a manager of the local pub was talking to his friend and said

"the other day I interviewed three women for the role of a barmaid, and I used an unsual test of asking each of them what they would do if they found a ?10 note on the floor near the bar.

The first said she would put a note up to say that she had found it, and after 24 hours place it in the tip jar.

The second said that she would yell out across the bar that she had found it, put a notice up and then after 48 hours put it in the tip Jar

The third said she would yell out, then go from person to person to check if they had lost anything before putting a notice up and then after 7 days putting it in the Tip Jar"

His friend was suitably impressed and asked which one he employed

"oh that is easy" said the manager "the one with the biggest melons of course"

(it's the way I tell 'em apparently)

    • CPR Dave is anti-dogs. Each to their own  I think my dog has perhaps grown a bit less nervy about the fireworks in the last few weeks, interestingly. Our last dog had no problems with them until he reached old age, when he became petrified.  CPR Dave - it's not just sounds of the metropolis they hate, mine collapses in fear when he hears thunder too
    • There's quite a difference between going for a run around the footpaths and trying to sit quietly for an afternoon in a wide, grassy area and enjoying the peace & nature. The other two grassy areas in the park are used for sports, and both had barriered trackway running through them. The Parkrun had to be cancelled for at least three weeks, iirc. I'm concerned by your continued reference to "the rye" - the event is held in the park, not on the rye (common). There is a big difference, despite the organisers and council artificially amalgamating the whole area when trying to convince everyone that it's only a small area that is closed off. The railings & gates enclosing the park are a big clue...
    • So have you cancelled your contract with InPost / Yodel now? If so, that's probably caused hundreds of parcels to be stuck in limbo, as they've said to me before that they can't redirect them to a different store. I have a parcel that was refused by you twice, the last time on 5/12, and since then there's been no updates, despite me calling them 3 times. They just say it's being investigated, but if they now can't physically deliver to you then that is obviously the issue. So much for shopping for Christmas presents early, looks like I'll never get them now.
    • I thought I noticed the shop being redecorated the other day when I passed. Also the old Romeo Jones had some works going on, I think
