steveo
Those faceless Tristrams at the BBC have cancelled the only watchable thing on BBC1.In retaliation I'm cancelling paying their licence fee It was probably the same panel of box ticking twunts who sacked Danny Baker and put dog woman on in his placehttp://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/tvandradioblog/2013/dec/04/ripper-street-cancelled-bbcMore cheap cooking shows for mouth breathers to follow Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/39162-ripper-street-saved-for-the-nation/ Share on other sites
edcam
To be fair it did go badly downhill in series 2. They're reassigning the dosh to other new drama though. uncleglen
This is bad news. Imho Ripper street was on a par with Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett. They need to stop making over-acted episodes of Dr Who. hpsaucey
He's spot on about overacted Dr Who - style over substance trying to look clever. And I'll miss Ripper Street. edcam Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> I'm glad uncleglen doesn't work for the BBC! Michael Palaeologus
I am watching the last episode on IPlayer. Bloody good drama, if rather uncomfortable viewing at times.Bloody squints at the BBC. Cassius
Last episode last night - why the BBC has to cancel an absorbing and well acted drama I don't know. I presume it must be quite expensive to make and doesn't export as well as some of the dross. PokerTime
This is really good news and shows the shift away from terrestrial production, as internet broadcasting becomes the norm. The poor ratings were imo a combination of the wrong scheduling time and also the flaws in which ratings are collated. Whilst many of us now use any number of platforms to watch programmes as catch up, ratings are still collected from a small selected pool of people provided with equipment to record what they watch, as it is broadcast. It is such an outdated mode of measuring viewing figures. Also, add to that, that no licence is needed if you only watch catch up services and not live broadcasts. It's a pretty good incentive for many people to not bother with live television at all. The BBC needs to change it's model, and fast - or it will get left behind.
