There is a post on the 'wanted' section talking about Nintendo Wii and setting it up on line.

Part of the post goes off at a tangent and talks about a East Dulwich Mario Kart race... which got me thinking

How many people have a Wii on here, how many have Mario Kart (don't get me started on Wii Fit... Wii Blumming Heart Attack more like) and is there enough people who want a race In Mario Kart ?

if so then post your Mario Kart Driving Licence code here and suggest a date for a race night plus which cup we are racing for (how sad being in on a summers evening but ...) I will post my code here later on when I get a chance to get on the Wii

Oh yes, and strangely enough I race under the name of 'Auntie Bob' not LuvPeckham... :-S

Count me in. As one of the originators of the idea, I should say that it's largely because I am fed up of getting nudged off the track by 10 year old French children when I do the "continent race". Also, because I am rubbish and normally play at midnight after a bottle of red wine...

mp - Play.com served up Mario Kart for us in 48 hours, no problems.

haven't got mario kart (yet) but got Mr Buggie wii fit for his birthday, Couldn't find it in the shops but managed to find one not too over the odds on ebay. We've got quite competitive trying to beat each others records, don't think it can be played over the internet but can't wait to have more friends round to play it!

Very exciting to think there are so many closet Wii'ers out there in ED! And I know it's not exactly in the virtual spirit of the forum, but there are probably enough of us with the game for everyone to join in - we could have at least 2 people come round to us, if they have their own controllers.

Okay let us get this party started

Auntie Bob's Driving Licence number is 0731-4909-7027 B)

add that code to your mario kart friends list and it should send me an invite to link up... if it doesn't PM me and let me know your code...

I suspect that a week is needed to get peoples codes up and then we can race (not the rainbow raceway as it makes my eyes hurt !!!)

Let me tentatively suggest Monday 18th August at 8pm for race night!!!

Keef, I would suggest you borrow it as soon as you can as you will need to practice first...

When I did my first internet race I had my backside whipped by some spotty japanese kid* who choose the most difficult course available... (* yeah I know some people pay good money for treatments like that but not my cup of tea !!(6))

As I said, the 18th was a tentative suggestion and we can always move it OR have multiple nights of Karting

Open to suggestions

Okay

The List to date : (and I have just added everyone on my console so the same needs to be done by everyone else)

LuvPeckham 0731-4909-7027 (races as Auntie Bob)

Asset 0989-3800-3805 (races as ????)

Mockney 2578-5184-9814 (races as Piersy)

Ant 3265-5771-9216 (races as ????)

Ruffers 0860-4762-8498 (races as ????)

Siduhe 4038-7520-5555 (races as ????)

Still to provide codes

Open to all so the more we get the more of a challange it will be

I will update this list as we get more codes registered and as I also get people's character names...

    • Did you try the emergency number posted above? It mentions lift breakdowns over the festive period outside the advertises times. Hope you got it sorted x
    • People working in shops should not be "attempting to do the bill in their head." Nor if questioned should they be  trying to "get to an agreeable number." They should be actually (not trying to) getting to the correct number. I'm afraid in many cases it is clearly more than incorrect arithmetic. One New Year's Eve in a restaurant (not in East Dulwich but quite near it) two of us were charged for thirty poppadoms. We were quite merry when the bill came, but not so merry as to not notice something amiss. Unfortunately we have had similar things happen in a well established East Dulwich restaurant we no longer use. There is also a shop in East Dulwich which is open late at night. It used not to display prices on its goods (that may have changed). On querying the bill, we several times found a mistake had been made. Once we were charged twice for the same goods. There is a limit to how many times you can accept a "mistake".  There is also a limit to how many times you can accept the "friendly" sweet talking after it.
    • Adapted not forced.  As have numerous species around the world.  Sort of thing that Attenborough features.  Domestic dogs another good example - hung around communities for food and then we become the leader of the pack.  Not sure how long it will take foxes to domesticate, but some will be well on their way.    Raccoons also on the way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c1j8j48e5z2o
    • My memory, admittedly not very reliable these days, places the shop on the block on the left hand side just before Burgess Park going towards Camberwell. Have also found a reference to Franklins Antiques being located at 157 Camberwell Road which is on that block. This is a screen shot obtained from Google maps of that address which accords with my memory except the entrance door was on the right hand side, where the grey door is, rather than in the centre.
