East Dulwich Book Swap - Wednesday 22nd October, 8pm at The Clockhouse

I was going to suggest that there is a maximum of say, 5 books brought as otherwise we end up with a big pile on the table that no one wants again. Last time a couple of good souls volunteered to take the unwanted pile to charity as everyone else had left and we didn't feel we could just leave them on the table.

Either that or take away the books you bring that don't get taken by anyone else, or make sure you take away the same number that you brought.

Can't wait for this again. I think the limit idea is probably sensible.

I'll put a bid in for the Gowlett - cos I'm lazy. We also talked about swapping round the night of the week. How about Thursday, 23rd Oct?

I think Asset's idea about taking away the books you brought that no-one wants is good, but inevitably there will be people who leave early, and therefore some flotsam and jetsam to sweep up. Therefore if we keep a 5-book limit too, that would be reduced.

Gowlett works for me but the Clockhouse might be good if we can book the little mezzanine, as we can spread the books out on the table for people to rummage through. Happy to book it if anyone agrees.

Let's say Wednesday 22nd October, 8pm at the Clockhouse then. I'll change the title of the thread later today unless there is a mutiny in the next few hours.

Rules are you can bring a maximum of 5 books, so those who stay longest aren't lumbered with 27 copies of the Book Thief come the end of the night.

    • It’s even worse this weekend, the bass is unbearable.    The fact SE22 is getting upset about something in an entirely different Borough probably suggests how bloody loud it is that we can still hear it from here!? It must be awful for those living right next to it as I feel stressed enough from half an hour away. I don’t see any benefit to the local community, it blocks off our green spaces, makes it deeply unpleasant to be at home every weekend, and most attending will be from outside of the area. I also wonder if these events are the reason there are so many dead fish currently bobbing around the lake in brockwell park? Pretty miserable for the local wildlife too.
