Just what exactly is sasperilla?

More importantly are they going to sell it at the new bar?

Mate considering the weirdos wot walk the streets and cyber waves of this suburb I suggest a surrealist bar. Geremy?s muffin didn?t do it but I do know a lobster who is looking for a job as a barman.

Is that so you can write "lively nightlife for young professionals" on your ads? ;-)

How many surrealists does it take to open a bar?

Seven - Two to train the hamster, one to marry the cavalier?s helmet full of Greek yoghurt, and a turnip shaped like a goldfish.

Can't remember if this has been mentioned or not, but a good veggie option if you do Sunday lunch is nice - something that we can have all the trimmings with and not a completely different alternative - I like veggie sausages and mash but not instead of a roast. A couple of the best I had were risotto balls and aubergine galette, but a good nut roast does do the trick.

I agree with James. East Dulwich desperately needs somewhere with some genuine soul and more of an interesting/alternative/intimate vibe to it. Inside 72 was great in terms of music, informal relaxed atmosphere and rough around the edges appeal but the layout was too constrictive when the place got busy.

I'd like to see somewhere that's good to go out in the evening and plays decent music (i'm into indie, electro and rock so this would suit me fine!) E.D is a great place to relax in the daytime and weeknights but myself and a lot of people I know in the area have to leave for east London for a decent night out. Fridays and Saturdays in most of the boozers around here are like meat markets and way too chavvy (bishop, edt etc). Either that, or very formal and perhaps too civilized and uninviting for some (green & blue, black cherry etc)

Jaguar Shoes on Kingsland Road and The Red Lion off Hoxton Square are a couple of places worth checking out for ideas.

Hey Nico

Best of luck with your plans for your new bar.

Id like to echo the previous posters

thoughts with the following:

-- Friendy barstaff with no attitude

-- Good food menu with weekend brunch

-- Good kiddie access

-- Quality sound system..but not so loud

that you cant hear what your mate is speaking

(or is that me just getting old!!)

-- Wii Sports

Yes our previous local recently had a big

projector and wii sports including Tennis

and Bowling.

Oooh that was soo much fun...great pull for

punters

Also really important for landlord to have

a good rapport and get to know his regulars.

Makes all the difference giving a warm welcome

to folk and makes them feel at home.

Yeah the Wii sports thing seems to go down well in a couple of pubs I've seen it in.

RE: Food, I know people may disagree with me, but can you stop serving at weekends by 7pm, so people can just get on with weekend drinking.

If you stop serving food early (I'd suggest later that 7pm though - sorry Keef!), please do not forget decent bar food. Chips, chicken skewers, carpaccio, olives, cheese and biscuits and that short of thing would be great! As is often the case, I often skip a proper meal in favour of beer, so bar snacks would be a bonus.
