Just wanted to say what a fantastic service I had this morning from our local A&E at Kings.

I am very lucky (healthwise) in that I've only had to call on it's services once in a blue moon over the past few years but went there in the early hours of this morning in a lot of pain and very scared. They were fantastic - kind and caring, reassuringly thorough and so helpful explaining exactly what was going on, what investigations they were doing & why etc. Another chap was loud and abusive to staff whilst I was there - they dealt with him firmly but respectfully despite his insults.

I know it's all in a day's work for the staff but just wanted to say thanks again from a happy customer.

Glad to hear it. The show is on C4 (should find it on catch up) and is all filmed in King's. The way it's put together makes for some of the best storytelling on TV and it's incredibly moving.

I have had the most amazing treatment from Kings A&E over the years as have people very close to me. I cannot stress enough how dedicated and truly wonderful they've been to me and I'd like to wish all staff in A&E and the rest of the hospital a very Happy Christmas. Hope all is well with you too ontherun. Just to remind everyone 24 hours in A&E is on channel 4 tonight at 9pm.

Louisa.

I was born in Kings and I was in and out of there as a patient during the 80s and 90s when I was very ill and I've been in A & E quite a bit too and each and every time the staff have been amazing. I can't praise them enough for the care I have received over the years. We're very lucky to have such a great hospital on our doorstep.

That's a great post. Overhead a few conversations recently with people moaning about kings (particularly ante natal care), including complaining is not as good as private (!)

I do think NHS staff get a hard time from joe public, yet are some of the most dedicated selfless people work for them. Danny Boyle got it right!

    • > Was the penguin there? I like the penguin. I like the way he clacks his beak No, none of the others.  Peregrine was in fact the only one I had time for.  Maybe something about him of a proto-Victor Meldrew, or maybe a hint of Gilbert Harding?  The only other one of whom I remember anything is the iirc rather tiresome Katy the Kangaroo. The Annette Mills WikiP article I found interesting.  If you branch out from there you may eventually get to the 'official site' https://www.muffinthemule.co . Your browser might provide a small frisson if you take the necessary Advanced entry route to the latter, with warnings of possible danger if you proceed further.  In fact apparently nothing more than an expired certificate.
    • Commiserations, hope you feel a lot better soon. Nasty things going around, it seems, it's an absolute pain when you can't do anything.
    • Did you phone the actual noise control number? I posted a screenshot of it above on the thread somewhere. If so, they have given you totally wrong information, unless they have recently changed their policy on firework noise. You could complain to the council directly and/or ask your councillor to take it up with them? I was also disturbed by very loud firework noise earlier tonight, and it's over three weeks since 5 November.  It is really not acceptable. It was still loud through triple glazing in my bedroom. Poor animals.
