Absolutely. I would feel better about the forum lists if they didn't have "top 10" in the title. That's just too limited. Today's top 10 might not be tomorrow's top 10.

Lists remind me about the good and bad things I have seen. Good to ponder and provoke. As a result of seeing some of the films mentioned on the film list I have made a list of DVDs I want to rent.

And another result of seeing some of the theatre plays people have seen is that I realise just how little money I earn being self employed which has depressed me for the day....

Top Ten Reasons to ban lists?

1. No they're not.

2. They allow us to see what others tastes are, and how they vary from or are similar to our own.

3. This may lead to us 'copping off' with them.

4. Heck maybe even settling down and raising a coupla kids.

5. It allows free rein for those endowed with the quirkiness gene.

6. Sometimes contributors take a sideways look at the subject under discussion.

7. Often with added wryness.

8. Though of course if unchecked 5, 6 and 7 may lead to zaniness.

9. And nobody wants that, do they?

10. Perhaps four pounder may be right, we should be cautious about these things.

This is in my "Top 10 Funniest Threads"

It starts and ends at this though.

The thing that bugs me most about "top 10 blah blah blah" is,

who on earth can remember 10 of anything?

I struggle if I put more than 5 types of alcoholic drinks on my shopping list... (?)

The mouthwash and floor cleaner sections usually lead me astray...

    • Ian the guy who used to own the garage left last year. The place is run by someone else now. Ian was our reliable mechanic for many years, a sad loss. We now use Turners on Barry Road.
    • Agreed that Niko is really good: he was helpful and explained everything in detail, and did a good job fixing the problem I had. He was also honest rather than trying to drum up a bigger (more expensive) job for himself by telling me everything needed replacing etc. He charged a very reasonable rate. Will definitely call him when I need a plumber again and would recommend!
    • Sue, Sue, Sue Yes the bus stop at what was The Kings Arms I believe remains closed,  However the stops at the Heaton Arms (no youngster here) is open. Easiest way is a 63 or 363 to Peckham Hill street and change for the 78 which takes you directly to the front door or as good as.
    • I need to go to Asda in the Old Kent Road tomorrow. Theoretically I can get a 78 or 363 bus, but it looks as if the bus stop at East Dulwich Road/Peckham Rye may be closed. I don't know why, but I assume it may be due to gas or water works. Does anybody know if it is just this bus stop, or are other bus stops (or the routes) affected?  I don't want to get a nasty surprise tomorrow, as I have an appointment, so it's time critical.
