Making a will

Recommended Posts

A freind of mine died suddenly last week leaving a partner and young daughter behind. It made me think that I really need to make a will. My father in law specialises in drawing up wills for couples who have recently had children and may need to draw up/revise their will. He's lovely and regularly stays with us in Nunhead. He's coming up in a couple of weeks to sort a will out for us and some friends of ours in ED. I had a thought that other family room might like to engage his services. He's happy to visit people in their own homes and talk through all the issues their are to consider in relation to provision for your children, executors etc. He will do an EDF rate of ?175 per couple or ?85 per revsion if your circumstances have recently changed. PM me for his details.

Hi there I've had quite a response. It's obviously something a lot of us have been meaningn to get around to but hectic lives with kids make it difficult to make the time. My father-in-law is coming up on the 15th and 16th Feb and will be visiting some friends and family room-ers to sort out wills. PM me with email if you'd like a slot on the saturday after 3.30 or the Sunday.

This is really something worth doing and I thoroughly recommend Nick. The fact that he makes house calls is an enormous bonus and he explained everything clearly and helped us work through our options. He couldn't have been more helpful and made the process very simple and stress- free without charging an exorbitant fee.

I have recently renewed my lease and the solicitor I was using went on to draft a will for me, unprompted, and then pressured me to sign this will, appoint him as executor and pay him ?500 (!) so I appreciate Nick's integrity and clarity even more.

Just want to add my recommendation for Nick, who has just sent our Wills to us. He was very friendly and extremely efficient. I know he'll do home visits, but it suited us to go through the whole process by phone and e-mail. Nick was always very prompt (and never once rushed me to reply when I delayed things!). I was really impressed with him.

I'd like to add my recommendation for Nick at Sussex Wills. We had been meaning to draw up our wills for a while but with a small child it's hard to find the time to sort these things out. Nick was recommended to us and he came over to our house to go through proceedings. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with - very knowledgeable, professional and friendly. Having discussed the wills in person Nick promptly sent them through. I'm now very glad we have this important document in place.

If you have been meaning to draw up a will but haven't got around to it then do get in touch with Nick. We highly recommend his service.

    • Simply, give us a snap election now as the last 12 months in office honestly have not been great in any sense. Let someone else have a go at turning around UK plc before it's too late. At least the last administration had the inflation and unemployment rates going in the right direction at the END.
    • Yes but what's the answer, Jazzer? No government can simply walk in and fix the economy - get the bills down, grow it and reduce debt. There is no silver bullet. The public (and the press) wants everything now, everything cheaper, but with better public services and lower taxes.  In the radio and paper, all you ever hear is pundits, MPs, think tanks and economists saying what won't work, but no one seems to know what will work.  I'm genuinely interested to hear what other views people have on here, and what they think will help, or make things worse.
    • While they struggle with economics of UK plc, collectively we all suffer as a result of their ineptitude.
    • I’ve tried to find details of surgeries being held before but not found any. The section of the Southwark website that details councillors’ surgeries says that: Your locally elected Councillors will be holding a roving surgery programme in the Dulwich Hill area to enable residents to raise any local issues. Residents will be notified by letter in advance of the date, time and specific streets/roads where the surgery will take place.  Surgeries are not held in August, on Bank Holidays, Easter or in Christmas Week.  Dulwich Hill Ward Councillors I’ve never seen any notification of surgeries being held, including on the DH councillors’ social media accounts. I don’t know if any other residents of Dulwich Hill have? Neighbouring wards all seem to have times and places posted for surgeries.
