PeckhamRose
Of COURSE Lindsay Buckingham or Mark Kernopfler, how could I not have thought of him, but for bassists surely has to be Mark king?Meanwhile I refer the honourable ladies and gentlemen to Exhibit A. mancity68
Guess it depends what you want from your guitar men. I stick a vote or two in for Jimmy Page, Dave Navarro, David Gilmour and the lovely Bob Mould back in the day... Jeremy
Bob Mould is still knocking out some good stuff.Like you say, depends what you're looking for. I'm not that interested in technical players - or any sort of musical virtuosity. But someone who can wrench a new sound out of the guitar and write some cool tunes in the process gets my vote. Doug Martsch from Built To Spill would be another. But if we're talking about the traditional guitar heroes, Slash is hard to argue against for pure melodic quality. mancity68
And if we're talking heart wrenching minimalism - Vini Reilly. Swoon. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/41027-greatest-guitarist/page/2/#findComment-718557 Share on other sites
Peckhamgatecrasher
If we're talking about virtuosity and trouser-filling capability - Jimmy Lea.And if we're talking about pure nostalgia - Hank Marvin.
