you beat me to it Tony...

Re: Capt Birdseye's comment, that's kind of what got me thinking about it. I love Lennon's Beatles stuff too, but his post-1970 output is at least as bad as McCartney's. In some cases much worse. And, even allowing for exaggerations and falsehoods in all the biographies, Lennon still comes across as a bit of a dick. But he's still feted as the greatest. Then again I'm kind of of the opinion that if you can write I'm Only Sleeping, (or Eleanor Rigby in McCartney's case), you can pretty much be absolved of all crimes, musical or otherwise.

Coldplay! Coldplay? You mean that band that is like a trustafarian, who fancies itself a poet, whining to its therapist about how its life is so hard ever since its last girlfriend did one because she realised that she was pursuing a pointless relationship with a vacuous, talent less little fuckhole, set to elevator music?

Perhaps, Julian might have appreciated it more if the guy had remembered how to spell his name.

So we're agreed then? The Beatles were a bunch of losers, that couldn't write a decent tune between them, and didn't know how to spell the names of respective offspring. It must have all been a massive con trick by EMI & 'Sir' George Martin. How were we all so easily fooled??

Original lyric was "Hey Jules", but for some reason they changed it.

Anyhoo, bah humbug to the lot of you. Love the Beatles and always will.

Playing "Devil's advocate"...thats cool!:-$

You are not amazed at the poignancy of "She's Leaving Home"??

The wonder of "Across The Universe"??

"In My Life" one of the simplest, most Beautiful Songs ever written or "If I Fell"?

They must be "Something" that you have enjoyed that has been recorded by The Fab Four?

"Elenore Rigby"??..."Got To Get You Into My Life"??..and 300 others.

Plus all the Songs written for others like "Mine For Me" by Rod Stewart(on You Tube)..

btw: Which artist(s) do you like Snorks?B)

Not at all, but then nor were they blessed of a perfect output. There were definitely album fillers in their canon as well as some of the best pop ever written (Michelle), sublime songs (A Day in the Life) and some genuinely innovative music (Strawberry Fields).

But I really have never been able to stand either Hey Jude or Let it Be, forgive me and my opinion.

The everlasting appeal of The Beatles is that you could ask most people their 10 Favourite Songs that they recorded and get completely different lista every time.

Here's "Mine For Me"-my favourite Rod Stewart Song written by Macca.(to be sung very loudly when things are going well)..tu)

In no particular order(as its transient,unlike their talent):-This Boy/In My Life/I Will/Help/Something/Here,There and Everywhere/A Day In The Life/Michelle/Penny Lane/No Reply.(Apologies to the 300-odd that I omitted:))

    • Yep I would definitely advise booking Janda. It was rammed and we even had to wait a bit for our reservation.
    • This reminds me of "the grasshopper" at Westerham when a tabloid paper did an exposé about their swinger parties (many many years ago)  The result was that every man and his dog went there to see if they could get in to a party. Pub did amazing business but think the club may have closed as a result.  Bet the Telegraph article will be great publicity for belair sex parties and every pervert under the sun will invade Dulwich village and the square (of shame)
    • I find Fusion are Horrendous. When they ran Forest Hill pools it was always (although a new facility at the time) really grubby. Overflowing filthy toilets, dirty changing rooms, slippery floors and filthy swimming pool with cloudy water and Lifeguards who did'nt give a damn about teens  jumping in the pool and making trouble pushing and splashing adult and elderly swimmers. It was grim and I cancelled my membership and joined Dulwich leisure Centre because I got tired of complaining about changing rooms that smelt of p**s and used sanitary products left on the floor...and nothing changing..new managers would come promise improvement and making zero difference. In the End they lost the contact and FHP is run by Better and it really is....Better! I'm now happy to go there its well staffed, clean and well run. Unfortunately unless Fusion loose the contract for the Lido I fear things won't improve.
