Obviously the day to day 'mystic meg' style predictions are rubbish.

BUT is there anything to it?

What do we think about the general physical and character traits attributable to zodiac signs? How many of us have done a compatabily test?

I will stick my neck out and say that I do believe there is an element of stereotyping that can be done.

For example: Cancerians often have moon faces; Librans like balance and calm and are crap at making decisions, Leos have big hair; Virgos are pernickety buggers.

Get on it.......

Load of arse

And I can say that as I'm a Libran and like calm and balance.

Only when I tell people I'm a Libran do they say "ooh you can tell" - before I tell people it's normally about 7 guesses.

Big pile of arsey woo

12 types of personality combination????

* bites fist *

i am prepared to believe that your earliest experiences can have some impact on who you are later in life, and that the time of year at which you are born may have some impact on what your first experiences are

i am also prepared to accept that how old you are (relative to those in the same school year) when you start school can have some impact on how you are at that stage - given that the oldest children could be a year (or may be a year less a day) older than the youngest in the same year. by way of example ive heard the more professional sportsman are born the first half of the traditional school year - and as such on average are bigger and stronger than those in the second half and therefore are probably as a group better when they first play sport and therefore enjoy it more, with this early influence having a longer impact

so i am prepared to accept that when grouped together on aggregate there may be some charactertics that may be more likely or more prominent in people born at different stages of the year, however i think that the differences would be small and subject to many exceptions

is that astrology? probably not

Saw a documentary on this years ago, and those folks who invented it according to the position of the stars in the sky at that time - well basically the stars positioning has changed since then meaning - ummm - there's actually fourteen star signs. But two got lost when the stars moved position.

Having said that I did get someone to cut out the names of the star signs from the descriptions, and I do have all the Taurean characteristics. And I am a Taurean!

Bollox tho, really.

Faith isn't about fact, it's about ethics, belief and a way of life.

Astrology purports to be a scientific method of determining various things (I'm not sure exactly what, think it goes beyond just personalities?). So no faith is required - either you think the method is sound or you don't.

    • Yes but what's the answer, Jazzer? No government can simply walk in and fix the economy - get the bills down, grow it and reduce debt. There is no silver bullet. The public (and the press) wants everything now, everything cheaper, but with better public services and lower taxes.  In the radio and paper, all you ever hear is pundits, MPs, think tanks and economists saying what won't work, but no one seems to know what will work.  I'm genuinely interested to hear what other views people have on here, and what they think will help, or make things worse.
    • While they struggle with economics of UK plc, collectively we all suffer as a result of their ineptitude.
    • I’ve tried to find details of surgeries being held before but not found any. The section of the Southwark website that details councillors’ surgeries says that: Your locally elected Councillors will be holding a roving surgery programme in the Dulwich Hill area to enable residents to raise any local issues. Residents will be notified by letter in advance of the date, time and specific streets/roads where the surgery will take place.  Surgeries are not held in August, on Bank Holidays, Easter or in Christmas Week.  Dulwich Hill Ward Councillors I’ve never seen any notification of surgeries being held, including on the DH councillors’ social media accounts. I don’t know if any other residents of Dulwich Hill have? Neighbouring wards all seem to have times and places posted for surgeries.
    • I wouldn't feel too bad about that. It's one of the few degree areas that you can do a BA or a BSc in, so it's a fairly wide-ranging and complex subject. Certainly Truss, Kwasi and Reeves seem to struggle with it.
