I'm sure those things will be taken into consideration.

In the meantime, do you have a hat? And do you require a comfort break?

I have many hats and I'm always up for a comfort break.

Now kind people, this is all a bit cliquey, don't you think?

I mean it's the same people nominating their pals for the 'award' and it can be a little alienating for those of us who are not in the inner sanctum.

Just an observation.

I'm going out to the garden to get in my Anderson shelter, for I'm sure there's an EDF Doodlebug coming with my name on it's nose.

I'll not make any claims for it being a good idea or anything and it might die on it's arse - BUT when you say

I though I had addressed that earlier in the thread? I started it because someone I had never met, never PM's, have no connection with AT ALL, who has posted occasionally, suddenly started posting these delightful little episodes. I thought that was great. Can you please explain to me how that is any evidence of an "inner sanctum" or "pals" getting together?

Put it another way - if several of the posters on this thread post a lot, but many of whom have never met, can post with grace and wit, why is it that someone I HAVE met, and usually seems happy enough to meet, endlessly talks of alienation and inner sanctums?

What are your thoughts on Ted's posts? is there someone else you think people overlook and want to nominate? Join in if you like, don't if you don't - but why knock those that do - especially with made up falsehoods, and then calling it an "observation"?

I've never met Giggirl either, though I did once offer her a part in an imaginary film I was pretending to make.

It was a non-existent co-lead role, too.

Why Moos what a nice compliment.

A chance remark on a lost wallet thread some time back led to the idea being mooted about the time I found a wallet belonging to an ice cream magnate. We bacame firm friends and I ended up marrying his top international model sister.

There was talk of Clooney for the role of me, and Giggirl was all set for the part of my top international model wife.

Sadly the imaginary backers turned out to be the worst sort of scoundrels imaginable and ran off with the counterfeit money.

Even now my pretend lawyers are trying to trace them with a view to serving cigarette papers on them.

Still, that's the imaginary film business for you.

    • I’m not a Gail’s fan but there’s no reason a business shouldn’t open on Christmas Day. However, nobody should be compelled to work the day which, given the widespread coverage of Gail’s questionable employment practices, has to be a possibility here.  The only business I ever use on the 25th is maybe a pub and that’s a rarity these days but buses running would be very welcome for visiting etc. But the swings in the park should definitely remain chained up. Are parks even open on Christmas Day?
    • To be honest, pal, it's not good being a fan of a local business and then not go there. One on hand, the barber shop literally next door to Romeo Jones started serving coffee. The Crown and Greyhound and Rocca serve coffee. Redemption Coffee opened up not far away, and then also Megan's next door to that. DVillage was serving coffee (but wasn't very popular), as was Au Ciel (which is). Maybe also Heritage Cheese, I don't know. There's also Flotsam and Jetsam doing coffee and sandwiches at Dulwich Picture Gallery in the other direction. The whole of Dulwich Village serves coffee. And yet on the other hand, there are enough punters to support all good coffee shops. With the exception of Rocca and Megan's (which are both big spaces) and C&G (which does coffee like everything else - slow and with bad service), all these places regularly get queues out the door. Gail's often has big queues and yet very few people crossed the street to Romeo Jones (which was much better)... Half the staff at Gail's are perfectly fine and efficient. The other half are pretty offhand and rude. It's certainly not welcoming or friendly service. But they're certainly hard working, and no doubt raking the money in for Luke Johnson...
    • Well according to a newspaper article, Gail’s is opening 10 shops in London,,, yup Dulwich is named 10/5 I seem to recall with others in London opening at 7 am…!, Guess that is to capture workers coming off all night shift. Offering free mince pies until they run out.. So very sad to hear about Romeo Jones… been a customer since the opening, any idea where Patrick has gone or details… please pm me.    What is going to be in its place…. Will be around in Jan…umm village is changing….
