Speedo Pizza moved - what's happening to empty shop

Recommended Posts

Oh no, this has ruined my week - the end of an era, I've fallen into that shop and ordered all manner of things in the middle of the night for a good few years now.

This settles it, there is nothing to keep me in London anymore.

However...do we think this may be the secret location of the new cocktail bar being discussed on another thread?

Disagree

Seeing as the old Pizza shop is at the now livelier "foodie" part of the lane, people do care and very much so

Specially as the Picture House, when it opens, will focus food further at that end of the Lane too

I know traders are making plans to change their offer accordingly, to make the best of the anticipated trade uplift

So "what's happening to empty shop" is very relevant, it's prime retail space

Seabag - what changes are the traders at that end of the lane making to their offering? Later opening hours? Change of use to to serve food? I'm confused. Those units up their are so small this place can't become a restaurant, so regardless of Picture House opening, it will at most become another deli or something of that ilk.

As for the couscous/middle eastern eatery that sounds like an online rumour to me. It's probably gonna remain empty for a while because of excessive rents and then be taken on by a charity shop.

As with other place near theatres or cinemas, traders will have a menu of quicker/faster quality food and wine etc. The kind of pre or after theatre offers you see elsewhere

Not sure about a Cous-cous bar (whatever that is) but a Ranoush Juice might work. The attractive thing about that area of the lane is, the shops have a frontage to trade off, as well as the shop space itself

    • Myself and my family has the last couple of years had some problems with the downstairs neighbour. He seems to have some serious mental health issues and believes we are targeting him by stamping the floor, slamming doors, moving boxes in the middle of the night etc. etc. The list is endless what he is complaining to the council about. The majority of his claims are simply just made up or caused by really thin walls and floors between our flat and the downstairs flat he lives in. (We are a really quiet family but have kids). We feel harassed and threatened by him but the Resident Services Officer is not helpful at all. The fact that he once threatened physical violence towards us (which was reported to the police) hasn't made any difference.  Any suggestions what we can do to solve the situation? Any ideas who we should talk to at the Council to get somewhere?  I should maybe add that we own our flat (Southwark Council is the freeholder) and he is a council tenant.
