Jah Lush
For me it'll be:- Last Orders Please by The Faces, Into My Arms - Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds and as the curtain closes Jumping Jack Flash by The Rolling Stones. Otta
Er, really? I do hope not."Hurt by Johnnie Cash"Sorry to be pedantic (and a bit of a knob) but Hurt isn't by Cash. I say this because I love the piano led version done by Trent Rezner, and Cash's version is the only one people know. *Bob*
The problem with most crematoria is they fail to provide a decent rig. So that dream of a rousing airing of Jumping Jack Flash is hoist when the MC starts fumbling with the portable Alba CD boom-box. It's impact was so great as it came at the end of his life and is more emotionally charged because of it. Jeremy
The original version isn't always the best/definitive version. All Along The Watchtower, Twist and Shout, Tainted Love... I'd put Cash's version of Hurt in the same bracket.Oh, and Elvis Costello's version of What's so Funny About Peace Love and Understanding. It's a whole other thread, I guess. Just don't mention Puff Daddy! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44241-song-for-your-funeral/page/2/#findComment-746508 Share on other sites

Otta
For the record, Cash's Hurt is awesome, I just wasn't sure if the poster realised it wasn't always his song. El Pibe
to be vaguely serious for a second, i'd go Two Headed Boy pt II, Jed's Other Poem or Suddenly Everything Has Changed for reflection/melancholy and maybe something like Mathematically Safe or Jake Summers to cheer every one up as they head off to the pub. Robert Poste's Child
I don't want a funeral but they'll probably do as they like (family motto 'No one cares what you think') so I'll go forThe dance of the knights from Romeo and Juliet as they come in, to set the tone. Then maybe the Johnny Cash version of Hurt, or maybe Back to Black by Amy Winehouse. Then as the coffin slides away, Ace of Spades ny Motorhead. Jah Lush
I knew someone who had Motorhead's Ace Of Spades at their funeral. Good choice, I might add. maxxi
Are we just thinking in terms of music? Surely a video compilation of hilarious events captured throughout ones life, a la YBF or Rude Tube, and ending in a freeze frame of self in mawkish pose while Jane McDonald does a cover of All Kinds Of Everything.Feck 'em - if I'm stiff as a board then I want everyone else bored stiff.*I'll get my shroud* Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44241-song-for-your-funeral/page/2/#findComment-746676 Share on other sites
