I am going to try the walk from LB to Holborn via the South Bank, Wobbly Bridge and St Pauls. If that fails then the walk from Waterloo isnt too bad.

Is there a train from LB to Blackfriars or City Thameslink?

Still, when the cross river tram is built I will be able to get a tram from Peckham to Holborn in one go! Ho Ho.

Whereabouts in Holborn Mike? I used to work in New Fetter Lane many moons ago and would get the train to Holborn Viaduct (now sadly no more), after that closed it was a pleasant stroll from Blackfriars, along Farringdon Road, up Fleet Street, cut through the alley past the Cheshire Cheese and Doctor Johnson's house, then past The Cartoonist, then up around the bend and Bob's yet uncle. Oh Happy days! I'm in Canary Wharf now, which is completely souless and vile. Full of suits, shoppers and security guards.

I'd get the bus up Dog Kennel Hill if I were you, then a train from Denmark Hill and if you can't be doing with Peckham Rye do as Brendan suggested.

The first direct train doesn't start running until 9:11 and takes 10 mins. They are then every 15 mins on the quarter hour through the day. Usefully, in the rush hour, there is no such service, and you would have to go up to St Pancras before doubling back.

    • Oh yes, it could have been about there, I can't remember exactly. At one point there seemed to be a load of pizza places opening on NCR. I vaguely remember the one we used to use was put out of business by another one which opened. Wasn't Grace and Favour's food offering more of a tea shop at the back of the actual shop? If memory serves the owner, whose name escapes me now, was one of the earliest people I know to move to Hastings. Which must now be crammed with South East Londoners 🤣
