steveo
Please don't send flowers, I'll be around for a while yet. I was made curious by Billy Connolly's TV programme. To be buried in a garden, all you need is permission from the freeholder. And a (biodegradable) sack That's it Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44620-garden-burial-how-do-you-want-to-go/ Share on other sites

Jah Lush
Get cremated and get your ashes scattered in the garden. Job done. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44620-garden-burial-how-do-you-want-to-go/#findComment-749034 Share on other sites
steveo
For bin bag read biodegradable sack of courseI don't like crematoria (especially when I'm the guest of honour) and I don't like the services, and I don't want to be burned.I'd quite like to be left out in the desert but that might be tricky Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44620-garden-burial-how-do-you-want-to-go/#findComment-749037 Share on other sites

Salsaboy
I want to be buried in a tree so that people can look up to me when I'm dead. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44620-garden-burial-how-do-you-want-to-go/#findComment-749169 Share on other sites
Robert Poste's Child
There's something rather vulgar about a crematorium. The decor's usually somewhere between a Travelodge and a Harvester. Not a good note to end on. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44620-garden-burial-how-do-you-want-to-go/#findComment-749250 Share on other sites
ponderwoman
You do have to apply and register the site, otherwise future ambitious gardeners would be getting the police far too excited.I fancied a 'bring a stick and bottle' party for a home cremation (rurally, bearing in mind greasy smuts on the neighbours washing) but apparently thats a no no.Left on a hill for the vultures lunch, (I like being useful) but sadly that wouldn't work here. PeckhamRose
NHS have saved my life so many times that my body's going to the London Anatomy Office. They may reject it of course (cancer / amputations and various other problems are not suitable bodies for them), in which case unattended cremation, because either way the money will behind the bar at the Phoenix (clever, eh) for the memorial/celebration/laugh. ponderwoman
Unusually obvious for government bureaucracy, you apply to the Register of Births and Deaths. Useful info on the Natural Death Centre. steveo
Word is to avoid bureaucracy altogether. If they get wind of it they say no. So don't involve them. ponderwoman
Yes, I've long since given up the inclination to sign on the dotted line for anything official.Forgot to mention, you can be feeze dried then vibrated into tiny particles which you can incoporate straight into the topsoil, without the need for large hole digging or cost of tomato fertizer. This will be appreciated by anyone concerned who was also planning on attending your outgoing do without a back thats done some extreme digging. This is motivated by my severe lack of fondness for all the usual arrangements.
