Yes - not suggesting a predictions league - this tool allows you to enter in your scores and computes the group leagues then through to final etc.

Its also useful when you come to the last group games and working through the possible permutations, what England need to do to get through etc.

There are lots of them around but just in case someone does not have access to one.

Could have been England I guess.

I just pulled Portugal in our sweep - half decent.

This made me chuckle

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/world-cup-2014/expert-norwegian-guide-how-pick-3669175

I miiiiight just go with:

Spain (Born), then in descending order,

England (grew up here),

Bosnia (had amazing tourist free holiday there),

Croatia (been there a couple of times and have good friend there),

Argentina (hope to move there in a few years time for a spell),

Germany (i'm quite partial to the bosch, and a bit hun myself)

Belgium (would be nice to have someone unusual do it)

and will be booing:

France (goes without saying really)

Portugal (amazing the effect one man can have, i just like watching him cry)

Russia (today's cartoon villains, kind of comforting to have them back in an old world order sort of way, but in a fitwomen rather than shotputters kind of manner)

Holland would once have been much higher, but after their final shenanignas last time round they're relegated to last)

Those who are Facebook friends may have already seen this from me, but anyway.

I cane home yesterday and my next door neighbour was outside his flat hanging two large England flags to the front of our block. (I don't mind that at all)

Stopped and chatted briefly, and asked how he thiught we'd get on. He said "the only thing that can stop us is the heat, we've got youth".

He really meant it too.

I tried very hard to smile amd not look pitying. Bless him, I don't know whether it's better to have that optimism and be crushed, or be more realistic and never kniw what it's like to be that positive.

Better to be pessimistic, if they do well its a bonus and you won't be hugely dissappointed when they're out

Using the EP method..

Italy, family there

Spain, lived there for a year,

Argentina, I have liked every single Argentinina person I've ever met

Cameroon- so splendid in 1990

Belgium - sound financial reasons

Booing

Germany...it's Germany innit

France (see above)

Urugay...wot they did last time

Croatia.....just not keen on them

Portugal (see El Pibe)

Cheering

Argentina - After reading this (http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/27703170) I decided Messi deserves to be THAT player at a WC.

Cameroon - Who doesn't like them?

Brazil, Netherlands, Spain - Quality, and no reason not to like.

Cheering / Booing in equal measure

Austrlia - Lots of my favourite people are from there, and I loved it there. But they don't need to get good at another sport.

United States - Have family there who are well in to their "soccer". But you know, it's the yanks.

Booing

Portugal - After reading above BBC thing I decided that that player must not be the crying boy.

France - (you know)

Germany - (see France)

My for's are:

Spain Wife's from there, son supports them

England I've lived here long enough

Uruguay Little country

Against

Spain Wife's from there and has no interest in football

England One good result (if it happens) and they're going to win the WC

France Fuck them

Switzerland Isn't Sepp Blatter from there?

Netherlands? Really? They are definitely one of my 'boo's

Along with:

France - because they're French

Russia - set my teeth on edge

USA - stop taking the piss and fuck off back to baseball

Spain - just too big headed about it all

Cheers?

Italy - a long time ex - fond memories

Chile - been there and made a lot of friends

Brazil - because without them a world cup is a poorer thing

Croatia - Hrvatska!

Portugal - I quite like him.

If you are using a shop which doesn't give an itemised receipt, or doesn't give a receipt at all, just be aware that it might be a good idea to check that you are not paying over the odds (and if using cash, that you are given the right change for what you handed over). When staff are busy they might make mistakes.
    • As I had a moan on here about the truly abysmal Christmas meal we had at The Cherry Tree last year, I am redressing the balance by saying we had a really excellent Christmas meal at Franklins last night. Every course was absolutely delicious and  really well cooked. The staff were lovely despite being exhausted and run off their feet. In particular, my sea bass was a large portion and cooked to perfection, in stark contrast to the small dried up portion The Cherry Tree provided, from which I was barely able to scrape a teaspoonful of flesh (that is not an exaggeration). And our Franklins meal cost less than half what we paid at The Cherry Tree (to be fair, that was on Christmas Day so the Cherry Tree costs would have been higher, but that doesn't excuse the appalling quality meal). Thank you again to Franklins for restoring our faith in eating out at Christmas!
