any puppy will normally like cats particularly if they are brought into a home with them and grow up next to them. Cats are quite clever they will normally stay out of the dogs way unless they take a shine to them. Bigger dogs such a labs and retrievers etc will normally always be ok, sometimes terriers can chase cats but not normally if they are socialised early enough. Hope this helps.
CKC spaniels have too many health problems. It's too risky to get one of them. Have a look at the Pedigree Exposed Dogs website. You might find that the cats don't take to the dog. I have had cats and dogs, and my last cat was there before the dog came, he never liked her, but she loved him. Have your cats ever met a dog before?

thanks Mustard and Pokertime..

my neighbour has an Alastian and they don't seem too bothered by him.. plus we get foxes in the garden and i've seen one of the cats take a swipe at a fox so i don't really think a pup would massively phase them..i got them from a rescue centre as kittens and there was dogs at the centre as well

just want to make sure i get the right balance with chosen breed.. i'm swaying towards a miniture schnauzer as a friend has one and says it loves his cats.. anyone have an opinion on schnauzers?

also will check out the Pedigree Exposed Dogs site

Princess Anne had an EBT that killed one of the Queen's corgis and also attacked another dog in a park. Think the Princess had to make a court appearance about the attack on the other dog.

Don't get a lurcher type dog, or greyhound or whippet as they usually have a huge prey drive.

My 5 year old staff cross adopted two kittens whose mum had died when they were 5-6 weeks old. He cleaned their bums and they slept in his bed.

Here they are when the cat was grown up. They are still really good together.

Bull breeds have a bad rep, but they are really good pets and cool with other animals.

I know a rehomed racing greyhound who has killed both a puppy and cat and is local to this area. Now wears a muzzle. thankfully. Would find it very stressful worrying about having dog prone to such things. They will also kill squirrels in the parks. But, the gardeners of the parks seem to like that as they don't like the squirrels digging up their bulbs.

    • There was an excellent discussion on Newscast last night between the BBC Political Editor, the director of the IFS and the director of More In Common - all highly intelligent people with no party political agenda and far more across their briefs than any minister I've seen in years. The consensus was that Labour are so unpopular and untrusted by the electorate already, as are the Conservatives, that breaking the manifesto pledge on income tax wouldn't drive their approval ratings any lower, so they should, and I quote, 'Roll The Dice', hope for the best and see where we are in a couple of years time. As a strategy, i don't know whether I find that quite worrying or just an honest appraisal of what most governments actually do in practice.
    • They are a third of the way through their term Earl. It's no good blaming other people anymore. They only have three years left to fix what is now their own mess. And its not just lies in the manifesto. There were lies at the last budget too, when they said that was it, they weren't coming back for more tax and more borrowing. They'd already blamed the increase in NIC taxes on what they claimed was a thorough investigation. They either knew everything then or they lied about that too .   They need to stop lying and start behaving. If they don't the next government won't be theirs, it will be led by Nigel Farage.  They have to turn it round rapidly. Blaming other people, telling lies and breaking promises isn't going to cut it any more.
    • Is it lame? Or is it Lamey? (sorry)
