Has anyone used either Create Spaces or Loft Life? Looking for recommendation!

Recommended Posts

Hi

We have been badly burnt by a cowboy builder/conman in the last 2 years - IAN FORT ex of ED Complete I am talking about YOU.

Anyway moving on (!) we are now looking to do a loft conversion and I wondered if anyone could share experiences of either Loft Life or Create Space??

Many thanks in advance

Just in case anyone is considering Dulwich Lofts - we cannot recommend them after numerous ongoing problems.

We started our loft conversion last October and everything is still not finished. Feel free to private message me if you want further information/details.

We're in the same boat - quotes from three firms and finding it difficult to make a decision.

We've been to Classic Lofts, Simply Lofts, and Add A Room.

We thought our problem was solved when we got really glowing recommendations for New Zealand and Outlook, but neither of them has got back to us, in spite of a reminder phone call.

Help!!

WE are currently using Loft Life.... mostly a good experience. The people who are front line are lovely, professional and care. Sometimes the people who do work for them care less (or not at all....just want the job done). Everyone laughs at how "builders are", as if they really are cavemen that don't know what a bin is or that living with their rubbish, empty cups left on building roofs etc is what you have to put up with. But I treat them as professional tradespeople nonetheless. Happy to elaborate further if you like.

Also currently using loft life - and while it's early days they've been great so far! Keeps us informed on what's happening and seem careful and considerate - really lovely guys working on our house. They won our business as they offered the best price (compared with prestige lofts and south london lofts), but also took the time to really explain the process for our house.

So we have high hopes for our finished loft. They have great reviews on check a trade too which I also found reassuring : http://www.checkatrade.com/LoftLife/Reviews.aspx

Will update once job is finished!

We used Loftlife and were pleased with them. Their communication was good, and they were easy to deal with and responded quickly to queries. Any minor snagging issues were dealt with promptly. When we desperately needed the scaffolding down afterwards so works could get started on our garage by another builder, they sent their scaffolders over at the weekend so works could begin the following Monday. Can't say fairer than that. They were also good at not nagging for money, which was confidence inspiring!

    • One of the issues is that under this government, the so called black hole of £20 billion has, according to some, risen to £50 billion. Which will result in even more taxes. I was always taught to cut my coat according to my cloth, which would in an ideal world mean having to halt or stop projects or services until the deficit is down to a manageable level. Increasing taxes has a limit (the Laffer Curve https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laffer_curve)  and also damages the economy and the publics ability to spend.  If Labour want to turn things around they are going to have to face some uncomfortable decisions on where to cut their ambition.
    • "Country before Party" is Starmer's motto. Lucy Powell, Burnham and other senior cabinet ministers briefing against Starmer, describing the situation as 'terminal', and publicly condemning him is not putting the country first. They'll be no better than the Tories if they enforce on us a new PM and the political dissatisfaction of the electorate will explode.  Labour needs to get its house in order, but there are too many factions and, just like the Tories at the end, it doesn't know what it is anymore. I think the situation is unsolvable.
