Had you been, er, probed?

A woman at a petrol station noticed a spaceship landing in front of her. An alien stepped out of the spaceship and started to pump gas into it. The woman noticed the letters ''U.F.O.'' printed on the side of the ship. She turned to the alien and asked ''Does U.F.O. stand for Unidentified Flying Object?'' The alien answered, ''No, it stands for Unleaded Fuel Only!''

Otta I can't tell if I had been probed or not, but I had stinging nettle scratches all over me and my hair was a mess. I was a bit of a p@?? artist back in the day so it could have been just me going off on a bit of a beano. However, my friend who was abducted by the yellow light told me that these creatures can wipe your memory clear after they've played about with you in their ship. Who knows, I may have been probed after all.

The problem with this post is you imagine aliens think like you. They probably have a way of thinking completely alien to you. If you were to walk across a trail of ants and stopped to pick your nose, do you think the ants would wonder why you bothered them? They might but you might be blissfully unaware of them or not as the case may be. Either way it wouldn't matter.

of course, I was poking fun.

But intellignece and technological achievement at the very least imply two things, an understanding of cause and effect and picturing goals to achieve.

This means that there's some point to crpossing the universe, hanging about above peckham rye for a bit, then going elsewhere. However alien their thinking it seems a bit of a waste of time.

I'd get it more if we were detroyed for an intestellar bypass without bothering to tell us....

I'm amazed someone else remembers the UFO in Waverley upper,I have a hazy recollection of it (perhaps we aren't supposed to be able to remember it) was it about 1977/78.I also remember the adults ushering us in but truly cannot recall ever having a conversation about it.Im glad somebody else has spoken about it as I thought I may have imagined it as I was 12 or 13 at the time.

loni: I too am amazed that someone else remembers it as the person I was with all those years ago vaguely remembers it but doesn't recollect it as clearly as me!

I'm not sure of the year, it could have been post 77 or 78 and the other thing it was in the evening (maybe the workers that came rushing out where to do with a post school club/youth club)???

Hi Laur, how bizarre,it possibly could have been 76/77 but I thought it was late afternoon playtime although it may have visited before.I find it incredible that no,one else has mentioned this and I do see quite a few people who would possibly have been there at the time.Maybe only certain people see them like ghosts or children who are often disbelieved, personally I've never said as I feel people think you are making it up.note that the person who started this thread admitted to having a few pints, also the people in America who talk about abduction are ridiculed and perhaps that's why no,one with any sense talks about it. I am actually quite sceptical and a sensible person.

    • Hubby had to retire from work due to serious ill health which had meant he was off work for several months at a time. His hospital consultant advised part time employment only, Signed on at Job Centre and asked them to send him on courses, especially IT has not computer literate or had a computer. Job Centre refused and insisted he applied for full time work even though he produced medical evidence from hospital and letter from previous employment detailing the reason why had medically retired him. He applied for the (then) disability allowance but was refused as not disabled enough and the fact he could work part time. Applied f or several part time jobs but when they knew of his medical history turned him down. That was 18 years ago. Disabled people who want  to work find it hard to find employment. I studied Disability and Employment in Holland as part of my degree and found at that time, the Dutch system more flexible. If a disabled person found a job part time, they still received a portion of their benefit as well as wages. If found a full time position, benefit suspended and were subject to regular reviews as to how they performed in  the job. If there were no problems, benefit was withdrawn, however if they found the work was not suited to their disability - they gave up work and went straight back to receiving their full benefit. If a disabled person finds employment, their benefits stop immediately. If they cannot maintain the work and are sacked, getting back onto benefits is very difficult, Give those who are able to work at least part time, the opportunity to have reduced benefits to top up wages.
