Brendan - in a way i wish it was serious. Serious can be interesting. And i love the silly stuff too

But it seems to be serious subjects dealt with badly. . You are never more than 2 posts away from someone bringing up something irrelevant to the argument. . Usually class or nappies. If its in a thread about those things then fine but sweet baby moses its everywhere at the moment

Also misogyny and race are bubbling under too many things

Its just not that pleasant

There doesn?t seem to be any actual misogyny or racism just a lot of sentiment that wants to try to accuse people of it. It?s almost like it lends someone some credibility if they have an indisputable corner to defend.

Anyway stop it I?m not getting into this. I?m off to watch video clips of people falling over and cats wearing clothes.

I couldn't agree more. I'm going to resolve to be more Brendanesque and stop getting upset by it all.

In fact, I'm going to go off in my headscarf and frown elsewhere.

What's LBC?

I more or less agree with Brendan. People oftn seem to want to point a finger at others and accuse them of something nasty, whilst at the same time putting themselves on somes sort of moral high ground. It makes me really angry.

I do however think there ave been a few wiffs of nastiness under the surface of some threads.

Even though I have not been on the forum that long, I too have noticed a shift in mood/flavour/tone... what ever you like to call it... when I first started posting there were lots of aspects I liked

some hilariously witty and clever posts

some good debates with a twist

and the chance to link up (like at the drink thingy) with some great new people

the chance to let people know about things that were happening in ED

the opportunity to ask advice

and more and more and more (the hilarious bit being my favourite)

some to the above feels a bit over shadowed at the moment

hope it bobs to the top again

thanks for all the good stuff so far

Ah I thought that hat looked a bit ?foreign?. It?s getting so that a chap can?t send his wife down the grocers unescorted for fear of her being spirited away by some moustachioed, olive skinned sort, bedecked with medallions and a Casanova like knowledge of organic produce.
There have been a lot of new people rocking up at the drinks in the last couple of months which might seem to indicate an increasing interest in the forum in general. If the same is true online with more characters logging on and pitching into the threads then I guess the homogenous nature of the debate will dissipate. I'm just not able to keep up with all the debates at the moment, unable to read them let alone contribute. My level zero typing skills combined with a brain that operates at sloth pace means I cannot chip in like some of you without proper jobs (you know, ones where time spent working > time spent on break)

I see the tone hasn't got any better in recent weeks

Not content with arguing a point in the specific thread, some people feel the need to constantly berate existing forumites with ongoing put-downs in other unrelated threads - Summarised thusly:

"Someone disagrees with me

I have no argument but I know I'm right

I'll call them names and suggest they only see what they want to see

I want my mummy"

Pimping? PIMPING? How dare you.

If Ted enjoys a little toe-nibbling while exercising a nice corgi on Goose Green (and always cleaning up after it, of course) then that is just a side benefit. It's wholly above board, I assure you.

Goodness me, it comes to something when a respectable married woman of unimpeacheable lineage cannot bring together a man and a dog for some happy frolicking without being accused of going around in a fedora and a pink Cadillac. I don't know.

*goes off muttering, and counting a roll of soft*

Edited to say that I am NOT that dreadful Michael Holybrollyfist.

    • Where did I say he did a good job? Yup and Corbyn was very close to Len McCluskey and funded by Unite wasn't he...they're all as bad as each other... Labour have to purge their party of the far-left - they're a disaster. Allan Johnson summed it up so well on election night in 2019....
    • Thank you for the detailed advise @trinidad It is definitely damage we are concerned about. I don’t think Evri would agree to pay the bill to fix our gate or letter box if they were to be damaged as a result of their delivery drivers helper. Our doorbell can be heard from outside when rung so we don’t quite believe the aggressive simultaneous door/letter box banging is necessary. It can be quite a shock it is done very aggressively.  I’ll definitely action the steps you’ve kindly provided along with a phone call tomorrow. I do sympathise with the role drivers have and how busy they are, which is why we tried communicating directly with her but sadly we haven’t succeeded
    • What outcome would you like? Disciplinary action? Not to have the driver back? Retraining? I know there is alot of pressure on drivers to deliver within a set day. if he slams the gate, is it evidence he is causing damage, or is the noise a irritant to yourself? You could put a sign up or buy a signing asking to close the gate gentle???? can you hear the door bell from the door? he might be ringing, not hearing and therefore knocking. In trhe notes section of the be livery page, there is a note section, although there is not 100 per cent these notes would be read as these drivers are constantly rushing.  I did a google search for you, i found this and you can try the envri website Contact Us | Evri   To complain to Evri, you can follow these steps: Contact Customer Service: Call Evri's customer service at 0330 808 5456 for assistance with your complaint.    1 Write a Letter: Address your complaint to Capitol House, 1 Capitol Close, Morley, Leeds, West Yorkshire, LS27 0WH.    1 Use the Official Website: Visit the Evri complaints page on their official website for detailed instructions on how to submit a complaint.    2 Email or Call for Specific Issues: For issues like missing or damaged parcels, you can email or call 0800 988 8888, which is free to call.    1 These methods will help you effectively communicate your concerns to Evri.   My driver is called anthony, he is brilliant to be honest. I cant fault him.
    • When I have more time and energy, I will look up the actual number of votes cast for each party in that election, rather than the number of seats won. I'm interested to see that you apparently  think that  Boris Johnson did a good job of "leading the country through Covid." Is your memory really that short? I won't stoop to calling Johnson and his cronies names in the way that you seem to think is appropriate for left wing politicians. At least the left wing politicians have some semblance of morals and a concern for people who aren't in some over privileged inner circle and/or raking in money for themselves on the back of an epidemic. I'm not going to open a can of worms on here  by commenting on the disgraceful so called "purge".
