Whistling man

Hello!

Has anyone else been bothered by the man with the loudest whistle in the world? He was walking up and down Rye Lane last night at around 10.30, then I (I'm on Peckham Rye, at the top of Rye Lane) could hear him intermittently for a while, then again at 3am when he also seem to have a drum and be shouting. It really is an extraordinary whistle, and combined with shouting and drumming is a bit of a nuisance. Any suggestions what to do? He seemed to be on the Rye for ages last night.

Used to see this guy wearing his high-viz vest whistling at traffic on Goose Green roundabout. That was about 5 years ago. Glad to see he's still going strong. He did shout at me last week which put me off him a bit, but I think he's pretty harmless.

If it"s the same guy, I used to see him regularly on East Dulwich Road, directing the traffic, especially buses.

Haven't seen him for ages though, but agree, always thought him quite harmless.

He used to be on Barry Road regularly, doing the same thing. A local character, harmless from past reports, but I agree it would be annoying at 3am.

He's down at Rye Lane regularly, busy assisting the bus drivers with their traffic management. I have seen him on occasion act in an intimidating manner...mostly at passing motorists who don't get his take on the Highway Code.

Once saw him get a bit shirty in Inside72, but on the whole seems harmless enough...

That's defo the same guy he thinks he is a traffic director he lives behind ed police station... Enjoying but harmless

I like the sound of whistling...but yes I agree it could be annoying at 3am if he's stationary...it also feels a bit strange to me to see his innocent photo plastered on here...but maybe that's just me.

I believe the man they are talking about is about 80 years and white :)

That's a blast from the past! I haven't seen him since I left my flat at top of Rye Lane 8 years ago. He tended to stay on the Rye in those days. I often saw him in the day too. And for the record he is not white or old. He's a black guy, hard to tell how old.

No He's not white and 80 (unless it's Kaiser Soze) :) ) he wears a yellow HiVis jacket

Directs traffic, whistles LOUDLY and shouts - I see him outside Co-Op House a lot.

Don't worry. It was a joke. This character (from The Wire) used to walk down the street whistling and brandishing a shotgun.

Yes there use to be an old man quite often up by dulwich plough who directed traffic and whistled you know I think now he may have had a harmonica ?!

My last encounter with the whistling traffic conductor was on rye lane up by the khans bus stop when he was directing the buses and calling each bus a c**t, and plenty of passers by too.
