MarkE
Still wading through the full details, but found this snipped on a Govia release (they're taking up the Southern franchise, joined up with Thameslink and the Great Northern routes). They take over the Southern franchise in July 2015.http://www.govia.info/gtr/route-fact-sheets/ (fact sheet 4 is the relevent one)- Ticket gatelines to be introduced at East Dulwich (date vague - any time between now and the start of 2017).- Free WiFi to be introduced at East Dulwich (if it's one of the 104 busiest stations in the franchise) during 2015I can't spot anything on the list of service changes explicitly referencing any impact on ED directly, but there is a reference to Wimbledon to London Bridge services via Peckham Rye, which would presumably also be via East Dulwich. nxjen
There are a few direct trains going to Wimbledon from ED already first thing in the morning. I think there used to be a lot more a few years ago. What's a ticket gateline? cle
I thought there were going to be many more trains each hour? And also on the Catford/Sevenoaks line which stops at Denmark Hill and Peckham Rye?Is this due to those complaining Wimbledon Loop numpties? Loz
Don't gatelines need staffing? Does that mean ED station will have station staff?Might involve a bit of rebuilding as well, to bring the gatelines together (so less staff needed). MarkE
They need staffing for as long as they're in the 'closed' position. Quite often they're left open, anyway. You'll probably find they'll be manned in the peak and that'll be about it. Annasfield
It's a bottle neck getting in and out as it is. Will make it even worse Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/48060-east-dulwich-station-development/#findComment-774794 Share on other sites
ednewmy
^ Completely agree. The whole of the station will need a complete re-think if they're going to put in barriers. I'm guessing it's probably too late now to take back the rest of the old station building that used to be the garden centre, what with the new development? Unless of course that's part of the plan and I've just missed it...
