Mr Eater, surely you are aware that mobile phones are a manifestation of this big brother society? They can track your every move... record all of your phone calls and messages... it's all part of the conspiracy. You should be glad you can't get reception!
I live in Dekker Road (parallel with Calton Ave) and have two mobiles with different providers (one for work) and reception on both is impossible inside the house; I have to go outside into the street to take calls. Used to live in another road nearby that was a bit further up the hill where reception was marginally better, so I assume it has something to do with the village being in a valley.
Indeed when you think about it the whole of Dulwich is in a valley as it's surrounded by hills. Herne Hill, Tulse Hill, Gipsy Hill, Forest Hill, Denmark Hill, Champion Hill etc and without any masts in the area that's why the reception is crap.

Shit! Didn't think of that one. I can't live without my phone though, so I reckon that if I ditch the contract and get a anonymous pay as you go sim card I should be safe from the opressors.

I think Jah Lush's hills argument sums it up. There are base stations within less than a mile of the village, so distance should not be a problem. Its those flaming hills that are the issue.

What Dulwich village needs is a base station to call its own, best place would be at the Calton Ave / Turkey road crossroads. I shall make it my priority to arrange for one to be errected.

The reason of problems is usually in far location of provider?s antennas and their insufficient amount in rural areas.

In this case the best solution is a mobile repeater

I have bougnt this model https://www.myamplifiers.com/boosters/repeater-ma150gw/

For calls and 3G

    • Ohh dear.  Fireworks can be great fun.  Where I used to live the kids would have firework wars/games.  Watching them was more enjoyable than watching  TV. (Which you could hardly hear due to the pops and bangs).  It's not like anyone/anything could stop them. I would still prefer organised public displays that are affordable.   And I agree that fireworks cause problems for wild life, pets and people.   It seems to be one of those things that just happens so we have to put up with it.  But it is still not as problematic here as in other areas in London - that's for sure.
    • I made sure to set off a few today just to rile you guys up 😇😂 Always looking for something to criticise
    • Ugly...maybe..does it bother me..NO! I think its somehow reassuring to see theres still phoneboxes around. East Dulwich may  be getrified but there may well be some elderly people who don't have mobiles and kids who may have lost theirs adults ditto etc etc. I'd rather keep it than lose it...just because i don't use it does'nt mean its not needed.  there are many eyesores in the modern world not all of them as potentially useful.
    • I strongly recommend Balayage salon in Lordship lane as everytime I visit, they make me feel very spicial with thier profisionalism and care.   I have been going there for the last 10 years maybe more, and will never exchange them for any other. They are profisional, welcoming and they also always have an offer. I feel like a new woman every time. X
