I haven't seen the photos from Friday night online yet - they usually appear by about page 5 or 6 after the event

Hope it wasn't me that was rude to you either Miles - we met briefly at start of evening

As for the ladies who have posted details of their dates .. I've met some of you and can't believe some of the things those guys did. Is that commonplace???

Hi Sean, no it was one of the ladies that just laughed at me.

I'm looking forward to the photos, might help me to put some names to faces.

I'm sure it wasn't.. the 'lady' in question will know exactly who she is, she barely spoke to me, just laugh at me for a couple of minutes while I got my coat and left.

I wouldn't say common place - I've had some perfectly nice, if uneventful dates as well as some odder ones. Oh, there was the guy who insisted on telling me on our first date that he wouldn't be able to give me kids because he had a vasectomy after his first one. And then the guy who asked me to go on holiday with him over the starter the night of our first date... And the one who asked me about why I wasn't married ("I can't believe no one has ever asked you") and whether I wanted kids over the pre dinner drink on the first date... All a bit heavy for a first date in my mind!

I think overall I've had a few more odd ones than normal ones, though most of them haven't been unpleasant like the drink driver, just a bit too keen or intense for me. Still, none of them were as unpleasant as my ex was and somehow I managed to spend 18 months with him (though to give me some credit and be fair to him, he wasn't nasty all the time)

Usually first Friday of each month from about 8pm, all welcome. Look out for a thread appearing in the Lounge section as a sticky with details of where it is going to be in Feb.

You do.

I was just having some food and drink, not hanging around for him.

I have been hanging around on my Cross for ages watching this discussion and I would just like to ask Mr/Miss Woofmarkthedog not to pee on the base of my cross as it makes it smell funny (and believe me I have enough problems at the moment)

For I am Spartacus

I may regret asking this, but am curious to know why? My gay friends seem to have had the same sort of issues finding a long term partner as my straight ones.

Hey Spartacus

    • This may be somewhat out of date but virtually no environmental benefit & almost entirely grass... really? https://www.gigl.org.uk/sinc/sobi09/ Description Peckham Rye was established as an open space in the late 19th century and includes several valuable habitat features spread across the park. The park is a Grade II Listed landscape, and has recently been restored with assistance from the Heritage Lottery Fund. A small community garden within the site is managed by the Friends of Peckham Rye. Peckham Rye Park won a Green Flag Award again for 2022. The site is used by the Southwark Health Walks project as part of a Walking the Way to Health (WHI) scheme. Wildlife This large park has several valuable habitat features. The most important of these is the only remaining above-ground section of the River Peck and the most natural stream in the borough. The stream is heavily shaded by native, unmanaged wet woodland dominated by alder, ash and pedunculated oak with a ground cover of pendulous sedge and bramble. Alder dominated woodland is a rare habitat in Southwark. Although somewhat altered with weirs, other artificial structures and ornamental planting, some sections are still in their natural banks and includes yellow flag, watercress, water figwort and cuckooflower. The largest of three ponds supports marginal vegetation including hemp agrimony. A variety of waterfowl nest on the wooded island, including tufted duck, coot, Canada goose and mallard. Substantial flocks of gulls visit the park in winter and bats are likely to forage over the water. Small blocks of predominantly native woodland, mostly on the boundary between the Park and the Common, are dominated by oak and ash with a well-developed understory, but sparse ground flora. Spring bulbs have been planted in previous years. These and several dense shrubberies support a good bird population and small numbers of pipistrelle bats are present. Infrequently mown grassland is located in one large area and was seeded in 2009. It's composition includes giant fescue, ladies bedstraw, meadowsweet, black knapweed and wild carrot. The rest of the park consists of amenity grassland with some fine mature trees.
