I guess but my experience is much more in line with JohnL and HPSaucy. I always help though so it might be that those who help don't feel like people are left struggling. People always helped me on the rare occasions I was alone as well so I am just surprised its a prob

Em for some

I always get offers of help at Peckham Rye when I'm there with a buggy, it leaves me with the warm fuzzies. I do find it a bit awkward though, when someone helps you up/down the first lot of stairs, and then ends up obliged to help with the second set.

I offer help to others when I'm without kids, and Mr Pickle assures me he does the same.

Actually the last time I was in Lewes, a member of staff rushed to help me on the train. It wasn't even necessary but I was terribly impressed.

Also, to be fair, I have been helped a lot at Peckham Rye - but yes, sometimes by women, and often by suited men who I think may well have sprogs at home.

First stair fine, I'm going the other way and have 3 mins. I leave you hangin. Feel bad.

So somebody disagrees with me, therefore I am complaining about nothing? Whatever.

Luckily, lifts are due to be installed. By 2019.

Okay, take offence at me disagreeing with you then.

I was genuinely shocked people find this a problem on the scale being reported by some as I?ve lived in the area for 10 years and use Peckham Rye regularly and always got / get help and always see people getting help. May it depends on what time of day you are using the station?

I tried to help an old woman with her shopping in Clapham once and she started edging back and shouting at me. Clearly she was mad and it was a bad choice for me on whom to start my good Samaritan apprenticeship on.

I do help as often as I can but some people have huge suitcases. A motto for travel might be: if you cant carry it yourself don't bring it.

Some people just don't see themselves as old and in need of help.

She probably thought you were going to take it all :)
