I read today that a Turtle Bay is coming to Rye Lane. They have one in Birmingham that is good!

Mr Bao is pretty decent. I take back my previous comments about them jumping on the bandwagon because they've kind of added their own twist.. with bao benedict, etc. Staff are always really nice in there.

Mr Bao is owned buy the same people as Miss Tapas, if you haven't been to Miss Tapas yet it's well worth it. Lovely to haven't decent Spanish food on the door step

Miss Tapas is on Choumert Road (rye Lane end). It is very nice. But very small.

Its good but not ant better than tapas on North Cross rd. Its a different menu though so nice for some tapas variety.

There's a new Mexican takeaway on the corner of Peckham Rye and Nigel Rd - called "Cravings". Next door to the White Horse. Tacos, burritos, empanadas, tostadas, etc.

Probably off track for most of you guys a lovely new place in Brockley by sainsburys local, coffee, cakes and lovely food. Nice staff too

Second support for 'Cravings' by The White Horse (our new regular anyway) - lovely fresh South American/Mexican food, a far cry from chain TexMex. And Mr Bao is pretty good too, cracking review in Time Out today.

I went to Cravings yesterday at 1.15pm and was v disappointed to find it shut (as i LOVE mexican food) - the sign on the door said its open 1pm-8pm, is this normally true as might try again today?

pilsbury - I don't really know. The "official" opening times don't seem to mean much, as they were definitely open after 8pm on Monday. 1pm-8pm seems like odd hours for a takeaway.

They don't seem to have a phone number... but they are active-ish on Twitter, maybe try there if you are a user?

I don't get this bao trend. Sure, would work great as a snack in a cafe or a bar but it's not the sort of thing that lends itself to a formal'ish dining experience. Much prefer their tapas place.

Yes.. That's right.. Bao... Fillings in a Soft White Bread baps.. not very exiting.. and not at all healthy..

.. a healthy Rye .. Granary ... Sourdough... roll would seem a nicer option..
