Due to this topic being excessively long, a new 2024 "New Shops in Dulwich / Peckham" has been opened here. Please continue the discussion there.

Potager - the one mentioned in the above post - looks like it should be completely finished soon and is a welcome addition.

It is a pity that the cafe near to it doesn't do anything to clean up its vandalised front. I think Renata Hamvas has told the owners about the council's free graffiti removal service, so it is strange that it should be left like that.

Wonder what the boarded up ex-dentist's between the two will be?

The MeatLiquor will be located in the new Boxpark next to East croydon station (ruskin square). Boxpark croydon is due to open in 2016- it was anticipated for summer 2016...

New restaurant opening in ED called "Spinach" it appears according this ad for a job I noticed while looking for one myself.... not sure where. and can't seem to find a mention during a google search.

Looks like the idea behind "Spinach" is veg-centric dishes, a la Grain Store.

Also those of you who use Deliveroo will have noticed two new options... "Tommi's Burger Joint" and "Yoobi", both from the same address on Melbourne Grove (maybe the old 'Scoop' ice cream shop?)

Re: Yoobi and Tommi Burger on Deliveroo...

It would appear that Deliveroo themselves are taking on commercial properties and building out kitchens (i.e. the space they have off Melbourne Grove).

They are then subleasing these to restaurants they have on their books to test the water in areas they can't service.

I think the main reason is that in order to expand to new postcodes Deliveroo needs a volume of restaurants to make it worthwhile. If they are struggling to get sign ups from restaurants, SE27 being an example, then they will try this approach.

In the case of SE22 I think they believe that they need more restaurants to give customers more choice and more reason to keep coming back to the service.

It's actually hidden away at 2 Maxted Road for anyone trying to locate the place..

There was a guy taking pictures of the outside yester day afternoon but still some work in progress.

Website is nice.. Sadly due to dietary restrictions out of bounds for me... :(

    • I'd also recommend Silvano for anyone in the area looking to learn automatic, having just passed first time with 5 minors. He's a very patient teacher and ensured I learned how to drive safely above all.
    • You don't need to do the research. I had to know the numbers as a TV buyer. I analysed the potential advertising revenue and Channel Four didn't cover their costs. They had some nice 'Channel Four' signs when someone hit the ropes but, In all honesty, a lot a potential revenue was lost because most old knackers were pissed off because they couldn't perve at Carol Vorderman on 'Countdown'.       Sorry, cross-post. I was replying to Malumbu. Give me a minute, if you will. I listened to the first two sessions (today) on TMS and popped down to the pub for the evening one.   I do miss the days of Peter West, Richie Benaud and Tom Graveney on BBC2.   But, the BBC are at least putting on 'Today At The Test' on at around 7pm instead of after midnight.   And it was on the 10pm news.
    • "PGC, do you reckon this 'Anderson -Tendulkar' series could make Tests a bit more interesting to the wider word?" Alas no. Until it comes back to terrestial telly, I think it will always suffer from elitism(?).  Excepting The Guardian, cricket is barely mentioned in other press. I am fortunate in that my daughter has just added me to her subscription on NOW TV. It has been great to watch this test; it really could have gone either way, eariler in the day, which always makes it more exciting. The only bugbear is that I am a TMS afficianado, and they are about eight deliveries ahead of the tv! I thought Tongue was excellent in mopping up the tailenders, and Duckett was a delight to watch. Bumrah and Jadeja were brilliant to see. I'm sure the Edgbaston crowd will have tremendous supporters for both sides. PS: I don't think Jofra will be back on the strength of one county wicket.
