onthemove123
I know there's lots of hype about how good the pizza's are at The Actress and The Gowlett but I had the nicest ever pizza at Si Mangia on Forest Hill Road. Absolutely gorgeous and highly recommend.X Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50006-si-mangia-italian/ Share on other sites

DulwichFox
The reason we all get so many Pizza leaflets through our doors is that they are the Biggest money spinners. They are cheap and easy to make and can be made by a 12 year old with 20 mins. training. And I'm being generous. As a consequence they also give the worst value for money and have very little nutritional benefit. skiddywill
Can I start a campaign to bring back the seafood linguine? Squid ink linguine with clams, mussels, scallops and prawns. Best thing ever. But it really IS no more than Cheese on Toast with bits.Louisa is not trying to be funny. She is not joking. Like me, she is making a point.Pizza has little more healthy nutritional benefit than the box it comes in.Popular types of Pizza Net C(g) Sugar(g) Fibre(g) Total Carbs(g)Cheese Pizza 1 piece (1/8 30 cm dia) 24.48 3.06 1.6 26.08 Whole Pizza 195.84 24.48 12.8 208.64 208.64 Carbs = 41.73 spoonfulls of Sugar. haruki
Come on now, surely you must be joking? A serious threat to children?! I don't think anyone is advocating an exclusive diet of pizza. And the cheese on toast comparison is odd. It's like saying beer is "just" flavoured water with bits. For one thing, the difference between type of flour, tomatoes and cheese alone, ignoring toppings, mean there's a huge variety. E.g. Chicago style vs Naples style. But I'm not sure you will be convinced. Bluelagoon
How has a post where the OP stated simply how much they enjoyed their dinner turned into a health advisory? I presume we are all adults and capable of making our own dietary decisions. I also happen to be very fond of cheese on toast. cordsm
I agree with Haruki...If you're insistent that Pizza is just cheese on toast, then you could extend this argument to pretty much anything, no?Shepherds pie is 'just' potato on lambPasta Carbonara is 'just' ham & eggs on pastaCaesar Salad is 'just' cheese on lettuce.....etc etcAnd making, rising & stretching out decent pizza dough takes a bit of practice too. Some people do this as a living, so a bit unfair to be snotty about it... Anyway, not sure why I'm joining in this argument - if you don't like pizza, I think it's probably because you haven't had a decent one, but each to their own. bradley
How did a restaurant recommendation turn out to be an argument about healthy eating?! What if I told you that you can be on a McDonald's only diet and still be healthy and not obese? It's all about moderation people. Anything, no matter how, healthy it is can and surely will kill you if you abuse it.P.S - Even the air (oxigen) that we breath is killing us.
