SimonM
>>Have you heard Warnock is now planning a personal lawsuit against the Hammers for loss of earnings etc...>As are many of the Sheffield United players!<<Again, evidence? The players concerned have always denied this after one of the pro-London clubs tabloid rags claimed last year they were seeking legal advice. Jah Lush
So not all bad then. Having said that what a great win for Tottenham at the weekend at Aston Villa even if it did do the Arse favour to move into fourth spot. matthew123
Interesting how after all the mind games it is Ferguson who is now portrayed as the man cracking up after his clinical excuses on MUTV. Prior to the game it was unnecessary of Ferguson to say he'd have to read some more Freud in regard Rafa's 'rant' - of course it wasn't widely reported but Rafa in his own press conference had responded to Fergie's cheap shot by saying he had completed his own reading of Freud at school and university.. Jah Lush
Not that it is any indication of what will happen at the weekend but our reserves beat Chelsea reserves 4-nil on Monday but I don't think we've beaten them in the Premiership since the early 90s so it's about time we did. Rhinestone Cowboy
Fifa has announced the countries bidding to host the World Cup in 2018. The nine-strong list includes England, Japan, Russia and United States. Each will also be in contention for the 2022 World Cup if a country from their continent is not successful in 2018. "The diversity and quality of the contenders will make this a very interesting selection process," Sepp Blatter, the Fifa president, said. matthew123
Wenger has had a good run - but I sense the knives are out for him. It's alright him building his empire but he needs to start buying winners. Wenger can bang on about manufacturing a team spirit and love for the club by buying very young players but it seems to me that every summer their only true bond is to money. citizenED
Real shame on Wenger, I agree. Struck me that whilst Barmby and others were berating the Ref at the end of the game, Phil Brown was on the pitch applauding the Hull fans. They'd travelled all the way down from Yorkshire (oh, all right, Humberside) on a Tuesday night and it was the least they deserved. Always feel that this is something chairman should made a big issue of - they should instruct their managers and players that a salute to the fans is something that should be done as a matter of course. SimonM
Agree about Phil Brown's excellent applause for the travelling fans. But what short memories the Hull players have. In the 5th Round replay against Sheffield United the referee made two such serious errors (a goal where the ball did not cross the line, a booking for diving for a United player which was clearly a penalty) that he actually telephoned Kevin Blackwell after the game to apologise. That said, United got the benefit of similar errors in each of the two following Championship games, both won, and I'd take those six points aainst another drubbing at the Emirates any day! >:D Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5028-on-the-ball-new-football-focus/page/44/#findComment-182120 Share on other sites
matthew123
Well, I've read what it says on the BBC and read between the lines. It's just sour grapes from Hull City. Fabregas spitting at the Hull City assistant manager... yup right...Reminds me of a few years ago when Stephane Henchoz was clearing his throat and then a disgruntled Warnock, after losing semi final to Liverpool, accuses the Liverpool player of spitting at 'em. Absolute pathetic! Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5028-on-the-ball-new-football-focus/page/44/#findComment-182121 Share on other sites
Tony.London Suburbs
No-one comes out smelling of roses.1/ Its great that Phil Brown saluted the Away Fans but he did NOT immediately make himself availableto Wenger who looked around on 2 occassions for him in order to shake his hand. (initially I thought Arseme was just being ignorant, wrongly).2/ They did NOT shake hands at their previous match so there is, clearly, some "previous" here.3/ Phil Brown rightly implied that Hull would not have been awarded that Winning goal as you RARELY get the "benefit of the doubt" Away from Home where the crowd becomes a factor (its irrelevant in Non-League if there's 200 people watching. He, conveniently, forgot how lucky Hull were after having a blatant "Homer" as a Ref, as Simon says in the previous round.4/ Useless Sky idiot agreed, "absolutely" that the Goal by Gallas was NOT offside, what a wuss. They did not have the film ready to show Wenger, and when they did they should have said CLEARLY to him, something along the lines of, "look do you agree when the pass was made that Gallas was offside?"5/ Either Brian Horton or Ces Fabregas was lying. On the brighter side, at least Phil Brown said "Linesman" instead of the f***ing ridiculous "Assistant Referee", it was a Man who would have wanted to be referred to as a Linesman!"... What is scandalous is that some fans couldn't get enthusiastic about a home game at Hull which got us into the semi finals of the FA cup. Ladygooner
Things did get quite heated at the Emirates last night. There were a lot of disgruntled fans who were upset with the amount of time the goalie took to do a goal kick - I can think of 10 occasions when this happened before he got the booking. Yes, the goal was offside but these things happen - bad refereeing all round on the night. I have not heard of any team saying "we can't accept that goal as it was offside". As for the spitting incident, just sounds like sour grapes to me. Atila Reincarnate
Le prof looked for Brown twice to shake hands before walking off but didn't shake hands after the last encounter so they obviously don't get on, the goal was offside, but how many times have teams won or lost on the basis of a dodgy decision?? Countless times so let's not get all on our moral high horses becsuse EVERY team at some point benefits from dodgy decisions, Liverpool against us for example in last seasons Champions League, so we'll take that, becasue sooner or later we'll get a stinker given against us. If Fab did spit, it's unforgiveable, but until I see evidence, I'll take it as sour grapes from the northerners.
