Ratty, that's not debate! ;-)

Hmmm, I wonder what that means? I guess that they could all have been given a few days off and he's going for a break. I don't hold out much hope for signing him or holding on to Ronaldo. It'll be interesting to see who we bring in as replacements.

A little postscript to Burnley v Sheffield United, related by another fellow-sufferer elsewhere

- Walking back to Wembley Central a Burnley fan with his rather porquine

swamp donkey girlfriend were walking the other way towards us. They must

have just watched it in a pub or something. Anyway the banter went like this

Burnley swamp donkey to blades fans "You're crap we stuffed you today"

Burnley boyfriend to swamp donkey "Shut up there's more of them than us"

Burnley swamp donkey "Why they're not going to hit me are they ?"

Voice from Blades contingent "Well they are certainly not going to shag

you love"

Much guffawing from crowd and I am sure I saw a smirk come across the

boyfriends face

It's not just about silverware tha nuz (probably just as well really...)

I am quite happy to let it lie if people are prepared to have proper discussions. Matt makes some very eloquent and insightful points at times and I enjoy his take on the game but does every post have to contain a jibe about United? Anna, well after her additions to threads on sports bras and those high heeled shoes I can forgive her anything and I guess I just have to ignore AG as I am sure he won't be able to help himself.

Damn, I expect I won't ever be taken seriously by you again. Not that I (probably) ever was - what with being a Liverpool supporter AND a girl.

On a separate note - Tevez will not be at Anfield next season. I shall treat the comments about Rafa with the contempt they deserve.

Where is red devil? Did he go to Rome?

Anna, why do you think Tevez will not be at Anfield next season, surely the new Merchandise manager cannot veto the deal..

The way Rafa chased after that useless lump Heinze suggests Rafa would have no qualms about raiding Old Trafford for Tevez, perhaps revealingly Mascherano has come out today and said, 'I hope we can count on him [Tevez]'

He is not my type of player but I think Rafa would love to have him on the left doing the same hard work for 90 minutes that Kuyt does on the right, as he'd certainly not displace Torres or Gerrard.

Liverpool need to sign at least one new striker, and for all the strikers he has signed only Torres has delivered, so if I were Rafa I'd play it safe and lump it all on Tevez. I think Liverpool would be willing to pay ?25m for Tevez, anything more would have to be based on winning the League.

Tevez can hardly speak English so I think he'd welcome the idea of being amongst many players that can speak Spanish (even if Rafa has outlawed its usage at the Club).

Very sad that. As was this:

Arsenal story

I see what you mean about Tevez not starting every game Anna and I see Torres has signed a new deal, I don't know if that makes any difference. I'd love to keep him and I think we could pay the money but there seems to be a real reluctance.

Did I read somewhere that Rafa's budget was around ?15M this summer? Is that right and does that also depend on selling?

As for taking you seriously, I do, you are an bloke as far as this thread goes!

At least this guy didn't take it out on others, eh sandperson

No, Atila he didn't, but people died so using it as a jibe against United fans is a bit low. I refuse to bite wit you now, it seems to me that you just come on here to spoil the thread and be abusive so why don't you keep your opinions to yourself or actually give us something to discuss?
My my who's the sensitive one then. Spoil the thread, how pray tell? By not agreeing with your view of things, and your love of all things Man Ure. Have I called you personally any foul or abusive names, NO! So behave yourself. And for the record it's not just me that's ripped the piss out of Man Ure for losing yesterday there were more than a few of us. Just because you don't agree with my views, or others who dislike your team or voice our disdain of them ,it doesn't mean we have to tread on egg shells every time you lose. Forums are for sharing opinions sandperson, that's the idea, or would you rather put in place some kind of censorship whereby any nasty anti manc stuff is taken off before anybody can read it, and heaven forbid, agree with it. Rest your skin my man.

Why don't you try and convinvce to support a "proper" team, aren't you ashamed of him? Love your "I'm more grown up than you" approach by the way, very comendable.

You should just let her go with it then. You know it makes sense. ;-)

I have tried to influence my god daughter from a very young age. She had a lovely babygrown with tiny liver birds all over it. :)-D

My puke story is horrendous, but still makes me laugh a little to myself.

Unfortunately not, been tied up with work commitments as I'm off on holiday next week, although it wasn't difficult to turn down the offer of a ticket for ?700!

Congratulations to Barca, they fully deserved their win on the night. Iniesta was on another planet. Will be interesting to see whether they can retain the title though. The expression on King JC's face was a classic, but the Spanish PM seemed pretty happy, is he a Barca fan Mockers?

They bossed the midfield, and I never thought I'd say it, but we missed Darren Fletcher!

I just hope Hargreaves makes a full recovery for next season, he was an unsung hero last season, and this match would've been made for him.

Would also like to see Rooney back in a more central position next season, playing behind a central striker, the team should be built around him, not Ronaldo.

Despite Wednesday's result and the lack of a performance and fight from Utd, I think a little perspective is called for, it's still been a fantastic season on the whole for us, and for most Utd fans the league is always the priority, and the incentive for next season will be to become the first club to do '4-in-a-row', roll on August!..

    • Post much better this Xmas.  Sue posted about whether they send Xmas cards; how good the post is,  is relevant.  Think I will continue to stay off Instagram!
    • These have reduced over the years, are "perfect" lives Round Robins being replaced by "perfect" lives Instagram posts where we see all year round how people portray their perfect lives ?    The point of this thread is that for the last few years, due to issues at the mail offices, we had delays to post over Christmas. Not really been flagged as an issue this year but I am still betting on the odd card, posted well before Christmas, arriving late January.
    • Two subjects here.  Xmas cards,  We receive and send less of them.  One reason is that the cost of postage - although interestingly not as much as I thought say compared to 10 years ago (a little more than inflation).  Fun fact when inflation was double digits in the 70s cost of postage almost doubled in one year.  Postage is not a good indication of general inflation fluctuating a fair bit.  The huge rise in international postage that for a 20g Christmas card to Europe (no longer a 20g price, now have to do up to 100g), or a cheapskate 10g card to the 'States (again have to go up to the 100g price) , both around a quid in 2015, and now has more than doubled in real terms.  Cards exchanged with the US last year were arriving in the New Year.  Funnily enough they came much quicker this year.  So all my cards abroad were by email this year. The other reason we send less cards is that it was once a good opportunity to keep in touch with news.  I still personalise many cards with a news and for some a letter, and am a bit grumpy when I get a single line back,  Or worse a round robin about their perfect lives and families.  But most of us now communicate I expect primarily by WhatApp, email, FB etc.  No need for lightweight airmail envelope and paper in one.    The other subject is the mail as a whole. Privitisation appears to have done it no favours and the opening up of competition with restrictions on competing for parcel post with the new entrants.  Clearly unless you do special delivery there is a good chance that first class will not be delivered in a day as was expected in the past.   Should we have kept a public owned service subsidised by the tax payer?  You could also question how much lead on innovation was lost following the hiving off of the national telecommunications and mail network.
    • Why have I got a feeling there was also a connection with the beehive in Brixton on that road next to the gym
