Xabi Alonso's proposed move to Real Madrid moved a step closer this morning when the Liverpool midfielder submitted a written transfer request. That 48 hour ultimatum was given more than 48 hours ago. If Liverpool revert to 4-4-2 with Gerrard back in midfield and the lionshare is spent on a top quality forward then it might mean a better tilt at title. What I do not want to see happen is Rafa blowing the money like a Chav whose just won the lottery.. e.g. don't go signing your players from Wigan and Hull.

Huuntelar looks like a possibility, and, although I can't understand why, Viera. Like everything else I'll belive it when the contracts are signed and the player pulls on the shirt. Kolo was ok last season but didn't set the world on fire, but ?25 mill for Adebayor, what a touch!!!

To be fair I've said all along I wouldn't have minded Owen coming to the Arsenal on a pay as you play basis, I think he would have been good value, if he manages to steer clear of injury.

Owen is a class act if only he can only steer clear of injury. He'll certainly score goals and his experience will benefit the younger players. I think it's quite an astute signing by Ferguson.
