andy&kez I also had a beetle, it was the noisiest most uncomfortable and dangerous car I ever had.

On motorways with the slightest crosswind it would jump into the next lane, and if you ever braked hard going down a

steepish hill you would spin 180 degrees. It did have good traction in snowy winters, but the rest of it you could keep.

I preferred the British beetle the Morris Minor, which was my first car and the only car I had with a split windscreen.

mazda mx5 bit of a hairdressers car ( no offence to hairdressers... love mine) but still a lot of fun, nice shape and nippy, it's been a great joy...

I gotta say though the Beetle was reliable. But come on it did look cool especially for an 18 year old and mine went like stink!

Love the old Beetle. My Uncle does them up for a living and I remember that every time we went to visit him, there'd be a different colour beetle on the drive way. Loved going down to the garage to see what he was working on. Everything came in as a wreck and went out looking pristine.

They still make those in South Africa. When the Mk2 golf came out they changed it's name to the CTI. These days it is called a Citi 1.8i (I think)
