Don't think there would have been sirens in a search for a lost child, unless it was an attempted abduction, which it doesn't seem it was?

Guardian guy (@crifmulholland) tweeted a picture saying 'police everywhere' 'lots of cops with guns' last night - and added police still there this morning - pic shows JAARK - opposite me but I saw/heard nothing - young man in Puffa jacket got arrested if you believe tweet replies.

Why do we want to know what the Police are doing ?

I like to know because it's our neighborhood and we want to know how to improve it, and to do that we need to know what's wrong. I hear sirens every day going past on Rye lane - I'd rather they didn't but I at least want to know why my neighborhood is full of police cars, sirens on rushing somewhere. Peckham is improving because people take note of what is going on and get involved.

    • DKH was two form entry, it is now one form entry to cope with the fact it was far more under subscribed than other schools in the area. They had actually combined year groups into single classes, 3/4 and 5/6.  When a school changes name, it’s usually because of a bad reputation perhaps the results.  The new name is dry with no history unlike its current name. It’s a very sketchy decision. It’s an expensive vanity project for someone.  What  will happen if the name change does not increase applications to the school?
    • @first mate I assume Alice made a mistake, as she removed her reaction.  I was wondering about park wardens. As I said, there was one there last night, who was incredibly helpful and proactive. As well as bringing me to the police, he caught up with a young guy on a bike who'd earlier been the victim of an attempted theft by these kids and linked him up with the police too. But I do wonder, as I've only very occasionally seen him riding around, how many they have and what hours they patrol. I've no doubt they'd be a strong deterrent if they had a better presence. They were nowhere to be seen the first time around.  Update: I've just found this: https://services.southwark.gov.uk/community-safety/community-wardens The guy in the photo at the bottom of the page was the lovely warden of last night and I've just now remembered him telling me he's based in Burgess Park. Anyway, there needs to be more of them, as I rarely see one in Peckham.
