TFL says buses will be running, and SouthEastern will be running most of its services once every half hour.

Southeastern

Southern says "SOUTHERN: On Tuesday 3 February, suspended between London Bridge and Sutton, via Tulse Hill and Wimbledon, due to adverse weather conditions" so not sure whether ED station will be open.

Good luck on the skating rinks, everyone.

I live just round the corner from the station and have just been to see if there are any trains running.

The sign on the platform says "Due to adverse weather conditions this station will remain closed until further notice".

I have seen a number 40 bus so there are definitely buses running. I expect the buses will be heaving mind you.

Peckham Rye station is completely closed, or was at 8.30, and all ED trains run through there.

Mick, pretty sure from looking at tfl this morning that the Denmark Hill/Victoria line isn't running, soz.

343 running OK to London Bridge.

Genuine question without any arsiness intended - why is it harder to get trains running than buses?

Got to work about 45 mins ago. No trains from ED station but a few buses. I saw a 40 and 176. I think I may have even glimpsed a 185. Anyway, got a 40. Then the Jubilee (sp) line. Waled through Waterloo station - from the boards (and the general lack of rolling stock) it didn't look like there were any trains running.

Definitely no trains at the moment - doubt there will be any at all today. Southern has a list of working routes (2 trains an hour on each working route) that I think includes Forest Hill. Buses all seem to be working fine though - got the 40 to London Bridge this morning and it only took about 20 minutes.

Good question. Perhaps on the road, a good dose of grit is enough to get things going, but the railways need to be completely cleared. And there are lots of cars using main roads, so the snow is always getting churned up.

    • It's Christmas. People are sending presents they've left to almost the last minute,  and returning stuff they've bought online for presents and then  regretted. That's on top of all the usual transactions. The Post Office only has a max of four people on the counter, if you include the one nearest the street. They can't suddenly magic up more space! I imagine going when they open would be the quietest time, but what would I know?
    • Post Office this time of year…I’ve seen shorter queues for Hyperia (new Thorpe Park ride 🤣) Christmas may have been and gone by the time I get to front of queue but wish me luck. Day 3 off tryin! What’s goin on?!
