I love Deptford

It's way scarier than 'New' Hackney

Plus i'd take a visit to Surrey Quays shopping centre, it'll realign your gentrification view

I took a strol through South Kensington last night and saw some of the same shops I'd see in ED these days. I think in general Penge is just a little too far out for all the gentrified BS to occur, but I rule nothing out since I started seeing bearded hipsters blocking the corner of Blenheim Grove outside a trendy bar. Come back in 2050 and even Orpington might be gentrified.

Was in Bromley today and had a great time strolling the boulevards looking for Christmas gifts. Granted it's not what it used to be, but it still retains a certain Kentish charm. Anyone ever drink in the Pawlenne Arms in penge? Is that what it's called? Looks old school boozer think its Irish owned not sure.

Drove through Penge earlier today and absolutely love the effort all the traders and local council go to for the Christmas lights. Looks very warm and seasonal. Unlike our local area, same old each year, especially the village, home to Charles Dickens and yet no effort put in whatsoever.

    • Why have things got so complicated? I suppose a cat flap with a timer might be useful for people out all day but can't really see the point of them when its so easy to flip a simple mechanical lock. This is how my last cat flap operated but had to be replaced when cat wearing cone of shame tried to escape and broke it. The cat flap I have now is one of those linked to cats microchip but even then there is just a four way dial which allows different kinds of access - or not. Not that cat is bothered, refuses to use it and demands i open the door for her. This is bit of a rant because along with a new boiler I got a new electronic programmer which is really annoying as it takes 5 minutes to change a simple temperature whereas with old programmer it took 10 seconds. Hope you get sorted @oglander and enjoy your future servitude to your feline master.
    • Did you have the same covid jab as you have had over the years?
    • Good morning, neighbours! We have around 1,000+ glasses like these from a café that just closed down. Not sure if anyone would like to keep some before we send them to charity. Please feel free to come and pick them up at 22 Upland Road, SE22 9EF anytime before 31st Oct😉
    • What "stricter" consequences could there be for shoplifting (or any other crime) than being put into jail, do you think? Though our prisons are of course full enough already, without more people being shoehorned  into them.
