Rather than attaching this onto the end of every post where someone feels annoyed by the state of things, I thought I'd leave it here and let people look if they're interested.

THis is surely another political pressure group. I have no problem with that - I'm a member of a couple of such groups myself. However, the manifesto:

* lay the foundations for a diverse economy, less dependent on the demands of the financial sector

* invest in green industries and energy production, as well as the skills needed for them to flourish

* recognise that extreme inequalities between the very richest and the rest are socially unsustainable

* commit to a fairer society, in which social enterprise and initiative are not stifled by lack of time and resources

reads like a student Socialist Worker agenda - not an apolitical organisation of concerned citizens.

As a matter of principle if George Monbiot supports something I will start from a position of opposition and look carefully before leaping.

Anything to shake up this country's peoples off of it's apathetic political arse is very positive. We've taken far too much crap for too long as fat cats line their pockets awarding themselves for failure.

I know I'm sounding a bit like Rik from the Young Ones or Citizen Smith but I've had enough of watching and doing nothing as this country goes to the dogs so I'm all for it.

    • It was a reactionary post and inappropriate when talking about a real case and a real person who was harmed.  London streets are generally pretty safe.  Sadly violent crime happens from time to time, as it always has.
    • Do tell, CPR Dave, what the spiteful jealous stuff is - I'm intrigued.  Agree - Burnham is a top class communicator (polar opposite of Starmer) he'd do a great job of uniting the party. I still think Wes Streeting has the edge, though I'm sure he has more enemies as well.
    • This is a huge part of the problem.   Starmer is only interested in himself, not in what is best for our country.    There's a litany of stuff he's done for spiteful jealous personal reasons which has damaged the nation enormously. Burnham would be a much better leader than of the other dross left behind when Starmer goes. To inflict a worse leader (and PM) upon us for his own selfish reasons would add to the problems and be entirely in keeping with his woeful premiership so far.
    • I heard today there was a burglary in Lacon Road yesterday evening between 20.00 - 22.00,  apparently the owners were home at the time & thieves got away with electrical items along with the owners car!  Wtf!   Anyone heard anything else?
