This seems to be fixed now as I'm not getting any more reports of any issues.

-------

Sorry but for some reason a lot of you are getting the message that your IP address is banned. You've not been banned and we're looking into it.

If you are getting that message please email [email protected] with your ip address https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=whats%20my%20ip

I don't usually read emails but will take a look today.

I don't know KidKruger . Feel free to continue to test post to this message and send any blocked IPs to the email address. I can't reply to the emails but thank you for sending them, they all help.

I tried from BT Fon with a different IP to my Home Wi-Wi and it was still blocked.

Its complecated

The Whats my IP IP is your Public IP and can be changed my your ISP

Then you have a Local IP which Identifies you. and I thought this is the one used to block users.

I'm confused.

I believe it may though I do not know how CloudFlare works.

The thing is you can access EDF and read posts but cannot send PMs or Post

Foxy

I had a flash message on a tablet that my IP had been blocked, but then it seemed to work. I am posting this via the same wifi connection, but a different machine, to see if there's any problem now.

Edited to say, 'and there wasn't'.

No, foxy - your 'local' IP is not visible to the wider internet. The 'public' IP (actually your router's IP address) is what you show to the world and what is used to block you.

So why was I still blocked when going through BT Fon and bypassing my router. ? different IP

I appreciate the efforts to help DulwichFox but your posts are making incorrect assumptions and confusing things.

My spidey senses are telling me this has something to do with BT IP addresses.

Could BT/Fon be the problem? When I was getting the blocked message I was also using Fon and my home laptop. I haven't been able to test that combination today but no problems on my phone or via the Southwark Lib wifi using the same laptop.

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
    • That was one that the BBC seem to have lost track of.  But they do still have quite a few. These are some in their 60s archive. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0028zp6
